Our own Sean Robichaud featured in "Under the Helmet". KORMA is going to do great things for the sport and the trails, there's no limits with this guy in charge!

Some amazing footage from the The Corduroy Enduro of our cherished "Waterfall Trail" with three-time world enduro champ David "Knighter" Knight. Kawartha Region has terrain for novices to the world's best of riders as this video demonstrates. If you are signed up for the Kraken ride at the end of May (COVID rules permitting), you will get to experience this section as part of the "Drake Passage" option. There is still space available on the Sunday, May 30 ride (Saturday May 29 is SOLD OUT)

This is a reminder that not only are the trails closed until May 1st but off road motorcycles (green plated) are not allowed on any roads in the City of Kawartha Lakes. There have been a lot of complaints in the Bethany and Pontypool areas, as well as around the Durham East Cross Forest of dirt bikes trespassing and riding the roads illegally. Please stay off the roads as a green plated motorcycle is not legal on any of those roads and is subject to hefty fines. The Ganaraska Forest is the only legal riding area for green plated motorcycles in that area and the trails opens in less than a month. Please wait until then and ride legally. We need to respect the residents in the area.

Thank you to all our members who patiently await the May 1 opening date. Kawartha Lakes has posted signs at the Somerville Forest to remind everyone of this date. Are you as excited as we are!? Riding season around the corner!

As the sport grows and we continue to work hard to keep our trails safe and accessible for the riders you are going to see more clubs and organizations stepping up and looking at alternate resources to patrol the trails. We as organizations and trail managers have to take extra measures to protect the trails for the responsible users and keep our landowners happy. We know that it's a very small percentage of people who choose to trespass on the trails and damage property and... those are the people our trail patrol and security staff are trying to educate. The landowners we work with in the 5 points are incredibly happy with the progress we've made this year by increasing patrols in the 5 points and bringing in an outside company to help. Based on the reports and feedback we've received the riders seem to be happy to see them out there as well. Thank you to all of you who understand why we need to patrol the trails. You have shown a tremendous amount of respect for the people out there working so hard to keep the trails safe and available for you to use whether they are club volunteers or security staff and we thank you for that. You are the reason we work so hard as volunteers. The more compliant and respectful riders are, the more trails we will be able to open.

Good friends, great trails and non-stop challenges, that's what riding in the Kawartha's is all about. We all missed the Cord this year and if you've ever wondered what the trails look like for the racers you don't want to miss this video. No one ever said our trails are easy, but everyone says they're awesome! Cory, everyone at KORMA is glad you made it out ok and we wish you well in your recovery

There's still some time left to enjoy the trails before our season comes to an end. Click on the link below to the Somerville Forest tract trails. Remember you on any of the motorized trails that appear on this map as long as they are north of Hillside Drive (7th Concession) of Burnt River. Click on a trail and it will tell you if it's motorized or non-motorize, single track or double track and there are waypoints for places to park. Let us know if you have any questions. https://kawartha.maps.arcgis.com/a/webappviewer/index.html
