Some amazing footage from the The Corduroy Enduro of our cherished "Waterfall Trail" with three-time world enduro champ David "Knighter" Knight. Kawartha Region has terrain for novices to the world's best of riders as this video demonstrates. If you are signed up for the Kraken ride at the end of May (COVID rules permitting), you will get to experience this section as part of the "Drake Passage" option. There is still space available on the Sunday, May 30 ride (Saturday May 29 is SOLD OUT)

This is a reminder that not only are the trails closed until May 1st but off road motorcycles (green plated) are not allowed on any roads in the City of Kawartha Lakes. There have been a lot of complaints in the Bethany and Pontypool areas, as well as around the Durham East Cross Forest of dirt bikes trespassing and riding the roads illegally. Please stay off the roads as a green plated motorcycle is not legal on any of those roads and is subject to hefty fines. The Ganaraska Forest is the only legal riding area for green plated motorcycles in that area and the trails opens in less than a month. Please wait until then and ride legally. We need to respect the residents in the area.

Thank you to our Trail Patrol volunteers who are out there monitoring the trails and educating riders, letting them know that the trails don't open until May 1s...t as per the municipal bylaws and landowners agreements. He does smile more than this but he was probably freezing his butt off out there :) "Spent some time at the Trail and Northline Road and then some time at the 3rd concession and the trail yesterday to speak with anyone riding the trail. We were not on the trails ourselves, but driving our vehicles to where the trails cross the roads to monitor. I was one of 8 or more who were out yesterday. I did not see any ATV’s but it was a nice morning. Some of the other patrols did see some ATV’s and or SxS’s out. Please stay off the trails until May 1st." Stolen Dirt Bike Recovered by Kawartha Lakes Police Services My name is Dan Thorndyke. I am a Sergeant with the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service. We recently executed a search warrant in Durham Region and recovered some stolen property. We are attempting to determine the owner of a dirt bike that had a sticker on it stating, Proud Supporter of the Kawartha Lakes Snowmobile Club. I know this is a long shot but can you forward this email out to your members inquiring... if they have had a dirt bike stolen. Detective Andrea Lackey is the investigating officer. If this has been determined to be stolen we would like to return it to the rightful owner. Registration for the Kawartha Kraken is now open! Two days, four events. "Drake Passage" (Expert/Extreme) and "Black Sea" (Intermediate / Advanced). Due to COVID restrictions on event sizes, this event is presently limited to KORMA members. If you are already a member, check your email. If you are not, join KORMA to experience the most intense way to start the riding season... "A smooth sea, never made a skilled sailor."

For those of you who also own an ATV or SxS, please take the time to support this. We were successful in opening the roads in Trent Lakes for green plated bikes to use roads to access the trails a couple of years after we opened them to ATVs so hopefully if this goes through we can do the same with green plated motorcycles as well some day.
