Reminders for Duck Hunting Season: - The Township allows gun hunting on Sundays - Duck hunting season is generally from mid Sept to mid Dec. - Hunters are per...mitted to hunt from hour before sunrise to hour after sunset. - Hunters are required to have a gun licence. In order to obtain the licence they must take firearms safety training and demonstrate safe gun handling practices. - Hunters must also obtain a permit to hunt various types of wild life (deer, ducks, etc.) - Hunters can only hunt ducks with a shot gun they can’t use a high powered rifle - The Township does not have any jurisdiction over the waterbody. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry regulates the hunting activity and Trent-Severn Waterway regulates the water body itself. - The Township’s Firearms By-law restricts the discharge of a firearm in residential zones. - Should someone feel that there is unlawful hunting activity taking place they must contact a Conservation Officer from the Ministry at: 1-877-847-7667.
