Our December Coach of the Month is Coach Libby! This announcement is bittersweet as Libby finished her coaching career with Kawartha Gymnastics in December, after being involved with our organization for nearly 19 years. She started as a competitive athlete in 2002, and competed provincially until 2014 when she began coaching. Libby has helped shape our pre-competitive program over the past several years, and she will be truly missed by our athletes and staff. We want to thank Libby for all her hard work and contributions to the club, and we wish her all the best as she pursues her future nursing career. Good luck Libby, you will be missed!

The province of Ontario has implemented a mandatory lockdown effective December 26th for 28 days. Under these lockdown measures, KGC will be forced to cease all programming. Our last day of classes and camp will be Wednesday, December 23rd as scheduled. Our Winter Camp scheduled for Dec 28-31 has been cancelled. Following December 23rd, all accounts will be placed on hold, to resume once the lockdown measures are lifted. We hope to see you all again very soon, and until then, Happy Holidays!

Purdys Chocolate Pick up will be tomorrow, December 17th from 4-8pm! Meet Katie - our November Coach of the Month! Katie is originally from Ottawa, ON and was an athlete and coach for Napean Corona School of Gymnastics for over 15 years. She is currently studying Nursing at Trent University. Why does Katie love gymnastics? There are so many reasons! Gymnastics pushes people to do things they may not think they are capable of. A big part of the sport for me is the people you meet and the relationships you build.... Why do you love coaching at KGC? When I came into the gym, it felt like home. All the staff and coaches are super friendly, and there is a good atmosphere. Athletes and coaches work hard together and are always willing to help each other out. Congrats Katie, you make a great addition to our #kgcfam!

Introducing our October Coach of the Month: ILYSHA! Ilysha plays such an integral role on the KGC team. Not only is she our Rec Assistant, helping with programming and scheduling needs, she is a dedicated coach to over 50+ local athletes. Ilysha was the driving force behind organizing our Halloween bottle/can drive and dedicated her time ensuring everything was sorted and delivered to the beer store in a timely manner, resulting in over $1230 raised! We are so thankful to have Ilysha on the KGC team, and look forward to watching her continue to develop and coach young athletes each day. Congrats Ilysha!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of our outdoor Halloween event this Saturday. Due to the rise of covid-19 cases in Ontario over the weekend and under the guidance of Peterborough Public Health, our staff made the difficult decision to protect the health and safety of our members by cancelling the outdoor Halloween party. How can we still celebrate Halloween for our kids at KGC?... 1) We want to encourage all of you to dress up in your costumes and head to KGC between 1-3pm Saturday to drive by / drop off your bottles and cans in support of our Bottle Drive Fundraiser and receive a trick or treat bag from our Coaches! (Bottles/Cans can be dropped off anytime before 3pm Oct 31) 2) The pumpkin carving contest is now a virtual entry please submit a photo of your carved pumpkin with the name of your athlete to [email protected] by November 1st! We would like to say a BIG welcome to our new Head Coach, Christine Ormerod! Christine has over 25 years of experience in sport with her primary sport being gymnastics as a retired gymnast herself. Christine is an NCCP Certified Level 3 Women’s Artistic and Level 1 Trampoline Coach. Her achievements include founding Clarington Region’s first ever gymnastics club, developing and implementing recreational and competitive programming, producing numerous Provincial Teams and ...Athletes, and an Eastern Canadian Champion. She has received many awards for events and was the floor manager for the 2016 Canadian National Championships held in Edmonton AB. Christine also acted as the Technical Director for Gymnastics Nova Scotia. She has recently spent time travelling across Canada working in not for profit sport organizations with key leaders in Canada for sport development. Some of her recognition and other achievements include nomination for the RBC Female Entrepreneur of the year by Bell Canada, 10-year recognition award with the March of Dimes, 10 years of promoting awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society. She believes in youth empowerment and providing every child with opportunity. Christine will lead the competitive and recreational programs and we are thrilled to have her share her vast experience and knowledge with KGC. Denise is a former WAG Level 8 competitor, and has also competed in aerobic gymnastics and cheerleading where she was a silver medallist at the World University Cheerleading Championships in 2015.
