We are very pleased to be able to reschedule this much anticipated workshop with Teresa Dunlop via Zoom. The workshop will be held over the May 15/16, 2021 weekend from 10am to 1pm both Saturday and Sunday. Cost is $45.00 (+HST) for KPG Members (until May 1st), $50.00 (+HST) for non members and all who register after May 1. This workshop will be via Zoom and it is recommended that you choose to use a computer or a tablet to participate as a phone screen will likely be to...o small. You will need to download Zoom onto your device to participate. To Register: Please email our Administrator, Donna [email protected] with the following information: your name (also include names of any others you are registering/paying for), phone # for yourself and email addresses for yourself and each other registrant. Payment will be by e-transfer. Donna will get back to you with the total for your order. You will receive your zoom invitation 48 hours prior to the workshop. Teresa Dunlop is a maker of function and sculptural ceramics most of which begin on the wheel and are then assembled and altered. Often wood fired, these objects entice the user to experience them though touch as well as sight. Using teaching skills developed during her 32 year career as a teacher, Teresa delights in providing workshops filled with tips and techniques that are easily translated to each participants personal practice. Teresa is a graduate of Sheridan College Craft and Design Program. From 2014-2017 she was an Artist in Residence in the Ceramic Studio at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. She now has her own studio in Newmarket On. I will begin the presentation by demonstrating how the wheel can be used to create forms that can then be used as molds for creating handles, feet, bases and other elements that are filled with volume and gesture. I will demonstrate the steps to making several multi piece forms, for example altered bowls with rims, baskets, flower bricks, lidded bottles or casseroles. I will show a number of ways for making strong attractive handles and other finishing touches. I will have some pieces ready to assemble that I will have prepared ahead of time so that the participants will be able to see the work made from beginning to end. Throughout the demonstration I will offer ideas and tips for successful making.

Thank you for your patience while we are trying to navigate the latest changes during the lockdown. Here is a new COVID-19 update from our guild administrator Donna, Hello,... Thank you for your patience while we confirmed what we are able to do as a Yellow Zone area, in relation to COVID-19. We have spoken with Peterborough Public Health and have confirmed their recommendation that people who live in an orange, red or grey zone be restricted from entering the KPG. To ensure we all remain safe and to keep it fair for all members, students and staff, the Guild will remain closed until March 22nd when the next 6 week class session is slated to start. This of course is dependent on what zone we are in at that time. Flex Clay classes will not be offered at this time. You are welcome to email us to arrange for drop off of items to be fired, or pick up of fired items, based on curbside service. We will be reviewing changes as they happen. Please know that this information is only as good as today's knowledge - everything is very fluid, changing daily. Do not hesitate to email me with any questions, your positive suggestions and comments are welcome! Once again, thank you for your understanding and support. We are all in this together! Take care, Donna O'Brien Administrator Kawartha Potters Guild
