We are back in business my friends! As of right now doulas are allowed in to support their clients at the Red Deer hospital. Although things may change if there is another outbreak within the hospital, we are so excited to support our clients through their entire birth again (not just early support at home). When you get your pre-admission call from the unit make sure you give them your doula’s name so that they are listed as a support person. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF PLANNING YOUR VBAC! Trust me when I say that you don’t want to have to fight for your rights or for what you need during labour. There is a difference between vbac supportive and vbac tolerant care providers; knowing the difference can help set you on the right path to being completely supported. Are these all of the things that makes a Doctor/OB/Midwife supportive vs tolerant? No. ... If I have a supportive care provider does that guarantee my chance of a vaginal birth? Also no. But what it does do is helps set you up for a greater change of success. (I say success loosely because there is no such thing as failure when it comes to birth.
