Sipping your morning coffee while tangled up with little arms + legs. The way their whole face crinkles when they belly laugh. Their messy little fingers pulling on your pant leg. Stealing snuggles whenever they hold still long enough to smooch their squishy cheeks. My mama used to say "the days are long but the years are short" - and boyyyy has COVID ever reminded us just how precious these slow moments with them are. These are the moments we all know we'll miss one day - so let's create a beautiful family film together that will bring you right back to soaking up their littleness, even when they're not so little anymore.

Those just married vibes evening ceremonies + sparkler exits are becoming one of my favourite things ever [check out this epic before and after in our stories!] So so sooo eternally grateful for our friends @jaleesamatteazziphotography & @jessmclarenphotography who shot last weekends weddings in my place while Sean was shooting video & I’m still recovering from leg surgery! Reason #17274883 why having industry friends is so important - you’ve got each other’s backs when the unthinkable happens!!

It’s OK to not be ok. And it’s OK to ask for help. . . I’m feeling better now then I have in almost a year. Which is crazy because I’m still healing from a broken leg, but I also finally admitted that I needed help + started on anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication 2 months ago, and I finally feel like MYSELF again. .... . When I really realized that I needed help was when I was doing ALL OF THE THINGS: eating right, running, getting enough sleep, prioritizing self care, ect. And out of nowhere I woke up one day feeling like maybe everyone would be better off without me. SCARY THOUGHTS, DUDE. And thats when it really scared me because I was like WAIT, BUT IM DOING EVERYTHING I’M SUPPOSED TO BE DOING TO FEEL BETTER?! and even at THAT low point, I was terrified to go on medication. I was afraid that admitting that I needed help would mean admitting something was wrong with me. I was also afraid that I'd feel numb, lose my creativity, or potentially feel worse before I felt better. I felt like I could deal with it on my own. but - THAT WAS THE ANXIETY TALKING. . . . [and spoiler. I suffered with feeling like that for 6 more months before I finally let go of my pride and accepted the help.] It took about 6 weeks to feel the difference but now I feel more alive, creatively FIRED UP, motivated, stress-free, and happy then I had in months. . . I’m sharing this now that I’m out of that dark place, because I want to encourage you if you’re still in that pit of anxiety and depression and you’ve been clawing your way out for so long and can’t seem to ever reach the top: it’s ok to need help. It’s ok to need counselling. It’s ok to need medication. It doesn’t make you weak, it makes you STRONG for having the courage to ask for help. . . So if you need to hear this today: DON’T GIVE UP. It does get better. And there are people reaching down into the pit just waiting for you to take their hand - and I’m one of them! SO MUCH LOVE and HUGE HUGS going out to you today, reach out to me ANYTIME you need someone to talk to. No judgement. just love. xo, K See more

Photography tip: BE A STORYTELLER! In order to tell the couples story, you want to capture what it FELT LIKE to be there, so it brings them back every time they look at their photos. . . 1. play MUSIC!!! it sets the mood of the shoot, and makes both your couple and YOU so much more comfortable! ( if you're a talker like me, it helps fill the silence of those quieter moments so I don't feel like I need to talk every second to fill that silence. hahaha.)... . . 2. don't just stay at the same comfortable distance, get SUPER wide, and then get SUPER close, and get every distance in between. I love to start off every shoot from further back and then work my way in closer, so I'm not all up in their face right off the bat and they have time to settle into the vibe of the shoot! Having a constant mix of those close, mid, far shots will make their final gallery feel so much more dynamic and complete. . . 3. shoot all the little details. the landscape, the plants, the waves, their hands, their pups tongue hanging out of it's mouth. ALL THE DETAILS that help tell their story. . . 4. Use prompts/directions that are specific to them. We already mentioned a few posts back about sending them a questionnaire and getting to know them before the shoot - use their answers to those questions to create prompts unique to them! :) For example: Did they date long distance?! Try giving them a prompt like: "I want you guys to recreate that moment he picked you up at the airport after SIX MONTHS of not seeing each other! Run to each other + hug like you would if it's the FIRST TIME you're seeing each other after 6 months apart! Ready set GO!!" (and if you're feeling stuck for prompts, we have a whole deck of prompt + action ideas available in our shop!) . . Double tap if you found this helpful! And as always, feel free to ask us anything in the comments below! We're an open book!! @ Banff, Alberta See more

"I can't be a good mom and a successful business woman" "I'm too busy building my business to have children" "I'm too busy being a mom to pursue my dream" "Surreeee Pam can do it, but I don't have the same time, drive, energy or ____ that she has." Making my own dreams and goals a priority makes me a bad mom.... . . Sound familiar?! They're some of the most common lies + stories we tell ourselves as women who are mothers, or dream of being mothers, and also have dreams that DON'T involve our children. Well honey I'm here to tell you, thats a load of CRAP. . . No seriously. 5 years ago I was a stay at home mom with a toddler and a newborn, and one day I was going so stinkin' STIR CRAZY (Sean would take our one shared vehicle to work everyday, and we had just moved to a house in the boonies.) I found my old camera in a box and was like THIS IS IT. I NEED A HOBBY. and within 12 months I turned that "hobby" into our main family income and Sean was able to quit his job and join me!! . . If I'd continued believing those stories that had been holding me back, we would NOT be here today. . . . You're 110% capable of having BOTH - a DEEP, incredible relationship with your little mini-me's, and simultaneously building something that sets your heart on fire. And the best part?! You're going to teach those tiny humans that THEY are capable of doing big things too. . . . Does it take some time management?! You betcha! Do you sometimes need to re-evaluate what's working and what isn't?! OHHH yeah. But gurlll if you have a fire under your butt right now to chase something big, I'm giving you the kick in the pants to START TODAY. like RIGHT NOW. Stop scrolling. Grab a piece of paper, and write down the first big dream that pops into your head. . . and I'd LOVE if we spread some love + light + SHARE THAT BIG DREAM BELOW! (I'll go first!!) . . . @jaleesamatteazziphotography See more
