Having a spot is often helpful to bridge the gap for someone who’s close to doing a skill on their own but not quite there yet. It allows them to feel the positions and understand what their body needs to do, with just a tad assistance from the spotter. You can see how Coach @lavoie_katherine is doing majority of the work with slight assistance on the lift off and staying balanced. When first learning handstands many people are not sure how to stack the hips and engage the core while inverted. It's easy to lose this sense of awareness if it is not developed in an easier position. The stomach facing hollow will help you build the necessary awareness for a straight lined handstand. The 45 degree handstand is a great way to develop the strength and body awareness for handstands without having too much weight on your hands. Using the wall will teach you to maintain posterior pelvic tilt in the hips, protract and elevate the shoulders, and keep your ribs tucked in. The full body engagement here will also transfer to many positions for skills in gymnastics. When comfortable from here for 1 minute holds we will progress further with the stomach on the wall....
