The Belfast sink was quite large and deep made with an overflow so the water wouldn’t spill over the sink. They were made larger so you could bath your smaller children in the sink and not pull out that tub. The London sink was made in a similar style but with water not being as readily available in the UK they made them smaller and shallower in order to help conserve water. Both of these sink style were popular up until the introduction of the French Farmhouse in the late 19...th century which is style we recognize today.
