Happy Halloween!

Since 2018, our analysis shows insurance companies have made $736 million in pretax profit while consumers are paying more than $150 more on average for auto in...surance. At the same time premiums are skyrocketing for drivers, Alberta insurance companies are making hundreds of millions of dollars every year. This isn’t fair. What’s worse is insurance industry lobbyists are asking the government for sweetheart deals to eliminate consumer protections and increase their profits even more. Profitable insurance companies don't need a handout from consumers or the government. Our government should put consumers first and create the fair system that Alberta drivers deserve.

As the real estate market picks up full steam ahead, I am reminded that although I do my best to be above and beyond for my clients, a lot of what I do is not p...ossible without the hard work of my staff and in particular, my real estate staff, Tracey and Lauralynn. These lovely ladies work tirelessly through all hours of the day and night, including weekends to ensure your deals close on time and any problems are avoided. All of us are humans and are at the mercy of the number of hours in the day, third parties not giving us documents on time, and our own personal lives. Please be considerate when planning your real estate closings as real estate is very time sensitive and with banks operating and at a slower pace, despite the increase in demand and deals, there is not a lot we can do without having the documents we need to work on for your transactions. Myself and my staff do whatever is physically possible to get to your files as expeditiously as can be, but without everyone else doing their part, and having enough time in general (ideally two weeks between receipt of mortgage documents/real estate conveyancing and your closing), there is added pressure and urgency created which adds to the already stressful real estate law practice. Plan ahead and ask us about timelines, and we'll work our magic to make things happen for you. I'm very grateful for my staff who is dedicated to helping my clients with their dealings and grow my practice, and wouldn't be where I am without them.
