Chuncheon Makguksu also can be served in two different forms: 1) Boiled Buckwheat noodles in kimchi and dongchimi soup, or... 2) Boiled buckwheat noodles mixed with vegetables, seasonings, mustard, broth, etc. Chunchan Makguksu is a local specialty of the Gangwon province in South Korea. The K-tour Top 10 is a themed tour program that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism began offering in 2017 to introduce various Korean tourist attractions to people in Korea and overseas. The 39 cities selected for the program are grouped into 10 regions based on unique themes and stories. The virtual tours feature local experts guiding viewers through videos of each destination. Lee Kunyong (b. 1942) graduated from Hongik University with a BA in Fine Arts and a MA in Art Education from Keimyung University. One of the most influential figures in the Korean avant-garde movement, Lee led the influential Korean artist group called Space and Time (ST Group), which was established in 1969 with an aim to connect theoretical research with practical art activism. Seollal is one of the most important traditional Korean holidays and the celebration usually lasts three days. Families would gather for this annual holiday and celebrate by eating Tteokguk, playing Yut Nori, and bowing (Sebae) to the elderly. One by one, everything good in his heart is crushed and abandoned. The brave Cheoyong, however, stops the last part of his good self from being replaced by fury and frustration. On lunar New Year’s Eves, the court of the Joseon Dynasty conducted a performance to drive away evil spirits. Crane, Lotus Flower & Cheoyong Dance was staged at the ceremony in a grand manner, integrating Hangmu dance(crane dance), Yeonhwadae dance(Lotus flower dance), and Cheoyong dance. Budae-jjigae, first created during the Korean War, has a relatively short history. The budaejjigae, which literally translates as "Army base stew" originated from the US Army bases in Korea. Then, as Koreans started adopting the idea of using sausage and ham in broth, it quickly became one of the Koreans’ favorite fusion stew. Today, we would like to introduce Tangpyeongchae (mung bean jelly (made from mung bean powder) with five colored ingredients - stir-fried meat, vegetables, julienned fried egg, and laver - in a cho-ganjang (soy sauce with vinegar).... The KCC launched the K-Food Webtoon series last April to introduce Korean food and recipes to provide an opportunity to learn to cook and try Korean food from home. About ‘Tangpyeongchae’ The name of tangpyeongchae is derived from the discussion of the tang pyeong agenda for cooperation between different factions during the reign of Yeongjo in the Joseon Dynasty. Tangpyeongchae symbolizes harmony as five different garnishes perfectly go along together. Thinly sliced mung bean muk (jelly) with sautéed beef, Korean parsley, egg garnish, and roasted dried laver. As the 9th program of the Visual Arts Series of Virtual Korean Culture, the Korean Cultural Centre Canada presents a "Bojagi" making video produced by the Hanbok Advancement Center. Bojagi, a traditional Korean wrapping cloth, is made from a variety of materials including silk and ramie. It is used for many things, for example, gift wrappings and weddings. "Making bojagi" is also a part of "Hanbok: Poetics of Line and the Passage of Life" exhibition which is currently on vie...w at the KCC Gallery. The KCC is pleased to distribute bojagi making kits for free to whoever visits the exhibition at the Gallery in person.
