I always explain grief to others by comparing it to an ocean. Sometimes the intense emotions that come with loss and sudden change can come in waves. You can have good hours, days or weeks. But then out of nowhere, those rough waves of sadness, sorrow, anger, worry, and hopelessness, can stir up and sometimes last for hours, days or even weeks. Like rough seas, I understand that the pain that can come along with loss and sudden change is uncomfortable. When the waves of grie...f continually come back again and again over the course of months, there are things we tell ourselves. Maybe we say, I should be over this by now. Or perhaps, There’s something wrong with me because I’m still feeling all this pain. Please know that when you feel overwhelmed by grief, there isn’t anything wrong with you. Allowing yourself to feel and process through the loss or change is extremely important and can take time! For those who are grieving a loss, or have experienced sudden change, please know that I see you, your friends and family see you. You’re not alone in this!
