Did you know we have some amazing murals on display permanently in our Preschool room?! We shared the in-process photos a few weeks ago but the final results were just too good not to share! These beautiful murals were done by some KCS high-school students, (Hannah L, Ciska B, Chloe C, Rachel B, Nika L, and EJay), who volunteered their time to help paint over Spring Break! The Gr. 5's are learning about simple machines and this week's lesson was on levers. How can we lift a heavier load using a lever and exert less force? Mr. Fell wowed us with his homemade trebuchet and then the Gr. 5's made their own mini versions together. #KCSElementary #WhyILoveKCS

A short time away from the start of the KCS Music Festival! During next week's classes, Band and Choir classes will be playing for professional adjudicators Dennis Colpitts (Okanagan Symphony and Kelowna City Concert Band) and Taylor Bone (Okanagan Children's Choir). The adjudicators will also be working with each class as a clinician to further develop their skills. Easter @ KCS Our Easter chapels looked a little different this year. High School students gathered outside to worship and hear of Jesus' death and resurrection. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." ~ Romans 5:8... We want to recognize the Gr.10 worship band and their hard work to lead staff and students in song. Real World Connections at KCS Our Grade 9 class got to take part in a zoom presentation listening and learning from Holocaust Survivor Louise Sorensen. In this photo, Louise is showing the class her Star of David from the 1940s, a badge all Jews were forced to wear during that time period. ... This is an experience we hope many students learn from and remember.

This year in Bible Class, the grade 8's have been discussing their biblical identity in Christ. We read through the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) which states that we should bind God's words to our hands and heads as well as write them on our doorposts. The Grade 8's realized that this is not literal but a metaphorical example of the importance of memorizing scripture. The class then successfully memorized Psalm 139 to help reinforce their identities in Christ. This is a video s...howing their great efforts in memorizing such a large passage of scripture. Demonstrating a me third attitude, many of our senior art students have spent a portion of their Spring Break painting murals in our preschool classroom. Mrs. Brodin’s Physics 12 students offered to help the Physics 11 class ahead of a big test. Each of the 12’s prepared problems to solve and walked all the 11’s through them, group by group, letting them ask questions along the way. Greetings KCS Community, Just a reminder that both campuses will be closed entirely on November 12th and November 13th. Our teaching staff are participating in the Christian Educators of British Columbia Virtual Conference while all support staff are offsite in other professional development. We have reached the quarter mark of our 2020-2021 school year. This current five-day break allows us to do a deeper clean of both campuses. Keeping everyone off-campus also crea...tes the necessary time apart to allow our high school staff to switch into new grade cohorts as our high school students move into their second-semester courses. This year, our professional development days have been scheduled to create longer weekends for students at each quarter break. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you (1st Thessalonians 3:12) Mike "Coach" Campbell
