I've always found something beautiful about planer edge shavings. The full curls are cool, but I really like the conical shapes of edge rips. I'm tossing the idea around of casting them in resin and turning them on the lathe into some weird shades for edison bulbs I think it would be cool

I went green.. mostly. Its hard to tell in this lighting but its an almost forest green with pearlescent yellow undertones. Once its set and polished ill try and remember to post a video to show off the shimmer. Woven Amboyna Cutting Board Oh yeah! This turned out wicked and it also goes to show that limited space doesn't mean you can't add a little flair. This board is only 10"6" because it's destined to be used in a restaurant bar, and anyone who's ever worked in the industry knows space is at premium. Production Day! 1) Last coat of finish is drying on the top (still have to hit the bottom) on this wicked curly black walnut slab. For real though, I haven't had seen a local walnut slab with this much curl before (I've had some offers but if you're interested shoot me a message) 2/3) left and right of a wicked little board I'm doing for a friend. He's a bartender and wanted the board to be something that could start a conversation. Its primarily Amboyna wood and then I went ...through my bin of random interesting bits (don't lie woodworkers we've all got one) and started weaving. So far its got black walnut, white oak, spalted mango, bocote, zircote, sapele, apple and padauk. Once this round of glue sets I'll weave the two pieces back together and sink some hardwood dowels I made in a couple spots to add dots. No matter what you do or do not celebrate, I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I know I did but back at it this morning. Through the finishing wax on this pretty cool piece of Tulip that's headed off to start its new life as TV stand. They grow up so fast Neat little bit of chemistry to get that colour out of what is normally a very pale wood. Acetic acid, 8% solution and iron oxide (white vinegar and rusty nails) left to sit and agitated periodically then passed through... a coffee filter makes a pretty cool wood treatment. It never ceases to amaze me what a little bit of oil will do to a piece of wood.... A rare piece of English Oak from @a.t.a_wood_chop_shop with some outstanding figure and grain patterns. It had that cut off limb which I couldn't bare to remove so I started messing with designs and settled on the rhomboid you see above. Deep undercut edges and the whole thing sanded to 800 just pops Couple coats of @osmocanada Poly-X Satin Clear and it'll be ready to go. Shout out to @rust...ydesigncanada and @ryverepoxy @ryverontario for the resin and pigment, that deep purple (mixture of Liquid Fire, Irradescent Blue and Battleship Grey) really brought the whole thing together.
