A virtual community open-house took place last month for our IRTH Landscape Hotel and Spa project. Located in Prince Edward County, the 30-room eco retreat will feature a hotel, spa, restaurant and conference centre on an 89-acre site. The architecture of the IRTH Landscape Hotel and Spa works with nature as it is found and draws out its undiscovered treasures, explained our CEO, Jonathan Kearns. KMAI is working alongside Design Agency and SidLee Architecture for this exc...iting development. Sustainable design principles will be used including incorporating low-energy embodied materials for net-zero carbon. The Fort York Visitors Centre is a National Historic Site and Heritage area for the city of Toronto. Honoured to have work on this project in conjunction with Patkau Architects, we want to highlight this project on World Heritage Day/International Day of Monuments and Sites. Considered the birthplace of Toronto, the Fort is home to one of the oldest collections of fortifications in Canada, dating back to the War of 1812. The design provides an opportunity for visitors to b...e immersed in the profound history of the site. The team was required to negotiate and engage with the monolithic structure of the Gardiner Expressway, which looms above, while still acknowledging the sensitive nature of the Fort and its Commons beyond. The siting of the building was designed to fulfill a fundamental role in the interpretive function of the Visitor Centre and combines high design and finishes with practicality and sustainability. The building was awarded the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture in 2018 for its contribution to Canadian Architecture. #heritage #monument #historicsite #Toronto #FYVC #FortYork

This new BMO branch is located at the new urban hub at Highways 400 and 407, the evolving downtown core for the City of Vaughan. The branch lobby connects directly to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway stop. To enliven this public-facing storefront, the staff lounge was designed to display a colourful restaurant-style eating nook. ...
