STANDARD SHARPENING VS. FLAT BOTTOM V Simply put, unless a Flat-Bottom V sharpening is done PERFECTLY, with square edges, a consistent hollow, and a clean finish, then you immediately lose any benefit you may have had to start. Furthermore, a Standard Hollow sharpening can be skated on for quite a while, usually about 6-10 hours of ice. When a Flat-Bottom V becomes slightly dull, you once again diminish any positives of that process.
