He is working so hard and making great improvements. Regular activity and a healthy diet have such an incredible positive effect on kids behavior and life attitudes.
Wanted to touch base on label reading and label claims. Today I am going to focus on PROTEIN. It is a big buzz word these days and food manufacturers are putting it anywhere they can. -Reading "a source of protein or listing the amount of protein" does not make the item a good source of protein. Please see the bacon packaging below for an example of what to beware of.

Ingesting large amounts of sugar encourages your body to store body fat. This includes all types of sugar, even those found in fruit juice. On a ml vs ml basis many juices have the same amount of sugar as soda pop. Fruit should be consumed in its natural form over its liquid version.
Parents watch out for products marked "FAT FREE" They often contain very high amounts of sugar which when ingested can quickly convert to body fat. Many candy companies use this label claim.
