Playing around with lighting settings and adding different types of candlelight can create such a beautiful mood for your wedding! I love using different sizes, heights and types of vessels to hold your candles in. Lighting is so important and can dramatically change the look of your centrepieces, the colours chosen for the tables and add loads of warmth. It adds so much dimension and dynamic to the room! Keeping things in clear glass adds the light withou...t seeming to take up as much space and having coloured holders can add to the look and theme of your day! Play around with both and see what works best for you and what you’re trying to achieve! A little late in posting this one, but found it fun to see what images drew the most attention last year! Here is our #topnine2020 Love how a few of the editorials made it plus I guess personal photos were popular too! What do you want to see more of this year? It's always a struggle with keeping up with posting and making sure the right content is out there. Would love to hear some feedback!... ________ #keepsakeevents See more

Vow Books, what exactly are they and do you need them for your wedding? When you hear the word vow book, you may have no clue what it's for or you might immediately think it's only for couples who have written personal words to say during their ceremony. Not the case! Although you can definitely go that route, I find that most of our couples like to keep what they say during the ceremony straightforward as nerves may take over and many couples tend to be ...quite private. The choice is there to repeat the officiants words verbatim, leaving less chance for error. Even in these cases, vow books can still work for you! A top priority is always to carve out time in your busy wedding day schedule to make sure you have moments away from everyone. Sometimes that means time to yourself individually or together as a couple to take a few breaths and make sure you're staying connected on this important day. This can be a great time for Vow books to come into play. What's written can be personal words that affirm your relationship, memories that you want to share or promises that you make. What you include is up to you. After the wedding day, your vow books are a beautiful keepsake to remember your day and to reflect back on the words you shared together. Does this change how you think about personal vows? Would having vow books add to your day? Photography by @nomo.simplysweetphotography Planning by @keepsakeevents ________ #keepsakeevents See more

It's a new year and I am celebrating in a BIG way! After working with the team @ashleyandmalone since early summer, our new branding and website is ready to be revealed! Ashley and Keara were amazing at making sure Keepsake's identity was clearly defined and Dallas translated it into the perfect product. So proud of the work that came together and in love with everything about it! Hop over to www.keepsakeevents.ca to see how beautiful the website turned ou...t with the perfect images from our vendor friends to match! I think you will agree that everything about it is a much better reflection of the level of service and detail KE always strives to achieve Because I'm really excited about unveiling the new branding and website and because I think we all need a little pick me up, watch out later this week for a giveaway! It's been a while so time for a reintroduction! Instead of the usual that you could easily read on the website, I'm sharing some very random tidbits about me! Let me know what you think *My very first concert was NKOTB and I have since seen them on stage 3 times (NKOTBSB was my fave!). I had the dolls and the stage AND I even quasi met three of them in person but was too starstruck to say hi. I'm curious to know how many know who I'm talking about! *I gre...w up with many animals including dogs (Doberman, Cocker Spaniel, mixed husky/lab/other), cats (my mom used to rescue from Gastown alleyways), turtles and fish (tropical and fresh) *Most people think I'm in my 20s (thank you for my good genes, grandma!) but I'm actually in my *ahem* later thirties *I'm always dreaming of where to travel next and my hands down favourite place I have visited was the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya *I love to read the Wikipedia plots of movies I don't actually want to watch (weird?). This usually includes scary movies as I am incredibly jumpy but also love a good plot twist! *This photo shows differently but my natural hair is actually really curly! I have fought it with a flat iron forever but if you have been on a recent video call with me, you’ll see I have let my hair go free! *I don't drink coffee and my caffeinated drink of choice is hot chocolate. My favourites are from @blenzcoffee and @minkchocolates but I’m always on the lookout for more to try *My favourite song, Christmas or not is All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey. My 4 year old begs to differ so we have compromised on the Minions version. A win? Any surprises? Tell me a few things about yourself! Took a little social posting break as to be honest, it was just the icing on the cake of "overwhelmed-ness"! Having a month off of social media isn’t what you’re supposed to do to keep engagement up and do all the things, but sometimes giving yourself some breathing room (whatever form that takes for you) is necessary! Over the last few weeks that’s the same line of conversation I have been having with our 2021 couples. Times are tough right now with tighter restric...tions in effect and the constant uncertainty looming overhead. In pre-pandemic times it might have been an odd choice to suggest taking a pause on wedding planning, but it’s feeling much needed this time of year and especially right now! So what am I suggesting? *Take a break from the constant worry of pivoting your wedding plans umpteen times by taking a break! *Know that restrictions will likely change a few more times over the holiday season *Trust your wedding vendors to keep an eye on things on your behalf *Regroup with your Wedding Planner in mid-January after taking a little breather Don’t forget to carve out some special time for you as a couple to enjoy each other’s company and have something to look forward to over the holidays! For now, please enjoy this beautiful image from my latest fall editorial. It's such a beauty and has a special print magazine feature next year! Cheers to a New Year! I think everyone can agree that 2020 was a weird one that we won't soon forget. Reflecting back, there is a lot of work that I am proud of, including checking off items that have been on the backburner for quite some time (more to reveal soon!!). These times were mixed in with lots of uncertain and much less motivating ones too. I'm not one to set lofty goals for the new year so as we head into 2021, I will be keeping in mind the flex...ibility and adaptability as being key drivers and lessons to carry over from the last. Are you a goal setter? Any intentions you're putting out there as your focus this year? Photography @whitedahliastudios Venue @moa_ubc Florals @postmarkflowers Planning @keepsakeevents ________ #keepsakeevents See more

Where can you put in a moment alone? Quite often, the perfect time comes right before the doors open to your reception and your guests enter the room. The room is set, the lighting is perfect and maybe you even have some music from your DJ or band in the background. The mood is perfect for the two of you to walk in and soak it all in before everyone else! Maybe even take a twirl between the tables or on the dance floor It's a completely different experi...ence and look from when all the seats are filled with your guests! We all know the holidays are looking different this year. It’s time to get creative to see how we can still connect while being apart! Our family is doing a treats exchange where I’ll be going around town to pick up, repackage (in the back of my car with gloves, tongs, the works!) and then drop-off for each family household to enjoy. Then we are regrouping for a Zoom call later on so we can open and eat as together as is currently possible! It sounds a little compli...cated but I know it'll be worth the effort! Are you doing anything to foster connection? I’d love to get more ideas! Take a deep breath and soak it all in! You've spent so much time thinking about what your perfect day will look like, now it's time to walk in, admire how it came together and be in the moment together. A wedding day goes by quickly so remember to take time for your own enjoyment and reflection! Carving out time in your schedule to have these quiet moments is one of my favourite things to do! Trust me, you won't know what time it is or where you are suppo...sed to be at every given moment on your wedding day. That's why it's great to have a strong support team like your Wedding Planner to lead you throughout the day! When @hanakifloral approached me with the concept for our Seeded Fall Editorial, I knew it was something I had to be a part of. Our idea was to bring the outdoor fall vibe inside with a beautiful monochromatic palette. Picking each of the vendors that I knew would bring out the best of our plan took a lot of thought to make sure everything was intentional and thoughtfully crafted. Every single piece had a purpose behind it and together it created the most beautiful ...wedding story. I will definitely be working on a full writeup about how each item was dreamt up, sourced and executed, but the finished product of that blog post will have to wait! Our shoot will be featured in @rockymtnbride later on in 2021 so we will have to save the full reveal for after we see it in print!
