The (o-maa-kaa-kee frog was chosen as a logo as a representation of healthy strategy (and healthy being). A healthy frog requires a strong ecology just as a healthy community requires a strong strategy. Frogs are also special to Donna in that, in 1974 her father was charged for practising his Treaty right to harvest. Donna’s father was hunting bull frogs out of season and without a provincial licence. The charges were brought to the supreme court of Ontario and were ...instrumental for the establishment of Treaty rights, recognizing the ability to hunt and fish on crown land for First Nations in Canada. The medicine wheel is presents balance and harmony and is a representation of a symbol that her mother incorporates into all of the quilts and art. Keesic is Donna’s grandmother’s maiden name and also her brother’s first name and is roughly translated as Clear Sky. See more
