KEILL&Co. 02.05.2021

As Women's Month comes to a close, our Keill(er) Women's Series finale concludes w/ our Chief Eternal Optimist, CATHERINE KEILL! INSPIRATION: People. I love people. Taking time to meet, talk, and hear their stories always results in something amazing, unique, and inspiring. The second is my Uncle Jim. He inspired me to be the person I am today in more ways than I can ever express. His open mind, love of life, passion for people, adventurous spirit, and deep desire to see ever...yone be successful and loved. CHALLENGES: As a GenX woman, working through the negative self-talk, rigid expectations, and conducting myself in an ‘acceptable’ way. Coming to a place of who cares! after nearly 50 years feels so liberating. I now realize that I need to live my life so that the 90yr old me can look back and be proud of how I showed up, and that the 9yr old me still sees the joy, wonder and the opportunity in the world around me. ADVICE TO YOUNG PROFESSIONALS: Surround yourself w/ amazing people who lift you up, challenge you, call out your faults, celebrate your success, let you cry, who will be with you for the tough and amazing stuff. I can't imagine my life w/o all the amazing and supportive people in my family all of them. Find them, love them, cherish them. OH, and be kind to yourself always! #womenleaders #womenempoweringwomen #womenshistorymonth #yegbusiness #womenentrepreneurs

Our Keill(er) Women's series continues with our Senior Strategist, SHERINE SPENCE. INSPIRATION: The women who came before me especially my mother. She's had a harder life than most but was such a great example. Also, the Indigenous communities that I've been blessed to work with throughout the years. I've learned so much about the world and myself through listening and learning from them.... CHALLENGES: Being undervalued. Going above and beyond all the time and not having that translate to advancement. I know many women, especially BIPOC can relate. Also, dealing with workplace racism is challenging. I'm amazed at how often this happens, how poorly it's handled, and how little support there is. It's time for ACTION. The stats are there - this is a problem. For those experiencing this, find someone you trust to confide in. Report the issue and prioritize your self care. You're not alone. ADVICE TO YOUNG PROFESSIONALS: Be self aware, authentic, pick your battles, and learn. Know your worth and build confidence. Don't ever keep your head down. Support other women especially BIPOC & LGBTQ. We're stronger together. Don't step on others nor compromise your integrity to get ahead. Go where you are accepted, appreciated, and valued. #womenempoweringwomen #work #inspiration

At Keill, we work in both official languages to better serve our clients. Did you know that March is Francophone Month in Alberta? French is spoken in several communities in our province and we appreciate and acknowledge Alberta's French language and history.... Our very own ADAM BROWN is very involved in the Francophone community and reflects on this in a piece he wrote to celebrate Francophone Month! Check it out on LinkedIn! https://www.linkedin.com//urn:li:activity:6782710079935401 #francophonie #francophonemonth #clientlove #français

At Keill, we work with many amazing women. Today, we continue our Keill(er) Women's series with KATIE ROBERTSON, a passionate leader. INSPIRATION: The inventors who destroy the meaning of impossible; the entrepreneurs who are constantly looking for new opportunities in the face of any adversity; the people who tirelessly fight for racial and climate justice, inclusion, and equity; and the women who are leading and thriving in the political rings around the world, despite the ...challenges they face from their male counterparts. Basically, if you have integrity, grit, and a story to tell - then YOU inspire me! CHALLENGES: The biggest challenge I have faced is not allowing the patriarchal structures of society to dictate whether being a parent affects my goals and aspirations. I work to overcome this by setting strong boundaries and advocating for women-centric policies in the workforce. I also stopped apologizing for being a woman. ADVICE FOR YOUNG WOMEN PROFESSIONALS: Your success is only determined by you. The 'secret sauce' is your own personal recipe. The thing you have to remember is that the table can always be bigger, so if there's no chair, bring your own; and then make sure to open up a spot for others. Empowering others empowers us all. #womenempoweringwomen

Another fun event for our team to donate our time for this weekend! Congratulations to Shadow Theatre for its first incredibly successful Zoom table reading event for guests. Thank you for including us in the event. We look forward to the next events! If you want to support local life theatre, now is the time to donate - even a small about helps keep live theatre alive.

Happy Monday! We continue to highlight amazing Keill(er) Women with our Executive Specialist, NORMA QUAID. INSPIRATION: Everyday interactions with the intelligent, strong female leaders that I work with every day. Also, the marginalized communities that face challenges at every turn and there are unrelenting efforts in the fight for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Finally, I draw most of my inspiration from observing my children grow. Their daily interactions are modelled o...n the examples I have set for them and if I want them to be kind hearted citizens and hard working people, I ought to model those behaviours and provide the tools they will need tomorrow. CHALLENGES: Not having a seat at the table. There is a lack of understanding of intersectionality and being a woman at the intersection of POC and motherhood, among other factors, you have to work thrice as hard while carefully treading stereotype lines just to be seen and accommodated in the workforce. ADVICE TO YOUNG PROFESSIONALS When you feel like quitting, think about why you started. Work that much harder and be unapologetically your authentic self. Empower and support other women; empowered people empower people. Be kind to yourself- remember to take a mental health break. #womenempoweringwomen

Happy Friday! Our Keill(er) Women's series continues with our Social Media Strategist, Cindy McDonald. INSPIRATION: I appreciate the underdog, the person who has faced tremendous adversity or the one who has thought about giving up at their toughest moment but didn’t. I admire the strength of character these people have when it seems like the world is against them, yet they persevere to get through it. What inspires me most are people who dare to share their stories publicly ...and, by doing so, show the world that no matter what happens to you, you can do more than just give up. CHALLENGES: As a young woman and mother, the biggest challenge I faced was a life or death decision when I was suicidal from postpartum depression. I had decided to stop living but was given a second chance at life to be a mother to my children. I overcame my depression with medical support, mental health strategies and a recovery program I developed called The Soul System. I have shared my story publicly and I’ve written a book. ADVICE FOR YOUNG WOMEN PROFESSIONALS: Support each other to help each other succeed. Be open to accept mentorship from people who have worked in your industry for a long time. It's an opportunity for growth and you can gain valuable insights from their knowledge and experience. #womenempoweringwomen #success

Moving day! Our mantra for 2021 is #OnwardUpward and today we did that.... 11th Floor, CN Tower, corner office view of Edmonton’s Ice District (west) and City Hall (south). The sun is shining and we are ready to rock this coming year. Last thing to do is hang our signature neon sign and all the pieces will be in place. Thrilled to have our friends and neighbours, Infinity Health, nearby. Thanks for the help moving, friends!

Another night, another GREAT fundraising event under our belts for our dear friends at SARC. Sean McCann was on fire, Andrea Aragon had us in stitches, the rebrand reveal was a success, and we all left uplifted and inspired. So proud of the work of the combined SARC/KEILL team from brand research, concept and design through to the successful delivery of this fundraising extravaganza - without a hitch, glitch or bobble. Now, time for us to put our feet up a smidge.... ...but not for long as our next big event is right around the corner! #NoRest #dreamteam

Behind the scenes producing the SACE - Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton One Good Reason headlined by Sean McCann and Andrea Aragon. These two people are beautiful, real, in love and so honest. We are honoured to be part of the team that helped this event come together and to gather guests from across Canada. Our hearts are full with love and our bellies with LOVEPIZZA.
