Past 6 years I have been busy nonstop. I decided to change my life because working for $15/hr as a senior stylist after 7 years of dedication at my job was not sustainable to raise a child and live a comfortable life with my son. I had massive talent and wanted to share my knowledge on a larger scale. However most importantly I wanted to have a life, a real life not working for someone else. Fast forward to last year my business was on the verge of being shut down. My mistake... was working too much in the business and leaving working on the business to someone who just wanted to piggyback off my talents and steal from the highly profitable business I have created. Realizing what was going on was heart wrenching for me, how can I trust anyone again?? So I took over my business completely after having a lousy and terrible business partner, that I thought I needed at the time. This was a hard decision, but needed to change my business if I wanted it to survive in these streets. The mismanagement lead to a dysfunctional team and the pressure started to feel unbearable. To be a boss it means doing things you are always not comfortable doing. I had to fully applying myself to situations I have never experienced before and working through them with a smile, optimism, hope and faith. Early mornings and late nights got the best of me. I even forgot how to cook the way being a busy business owner have changed my life. My business had the best of me and I needed a way to change that. I made sacrifices I needed to make so that my family can have the lifestyle of not having to struggle as hard as my parents did when I was growing up. I was betrayed along the way and still stuck to my vision and purpose even though at times I should have just given up. When they said it won’t work, I found a way to make things work. I prayed asked God for help every day because at the rate I was going it wasn’t sustainable at all. I realized later on in the year that hard work was paying off. I was able to keep my doors open after strategically changing my business on the backend.
