They purchased 30 cows from a local dealer, brought along 30 heifers from Symen’s home farm, and continued to expand. In 2017 they transferred quota from each of their home farms, added a small addition to the barn, and almost doubled the herd size by purchasing cows from local breeders. Acres farmed: 100 owned, 150 rented Cows milked: 80 Classification: 1 ME, 4 EX, 38 VG, 35 GP, 5 G RHA: 91 records, 12,929 kg milk, 3.89% fat, 3.25% protein (281-295-285 BCA) Housing/milking system: tie-stall & pipeline Feeding program: cows - TMR (haylage, corn silage, complete ration with own dry corn), dry hay heifers - leftover TMR, dry hay or baleage calves - dry hay, 18% ration Breeding goals/emphasis: - breeding for type without sacrificing milk production - breeding from deep pedigreed cow families - Penlow Outside Georgette, Kingsway Terrason Allie & Idee Goldwyn Lulu families - also have a half sister to the All-Canadian nominated Jacobs Jordan Carmel Service sires: Doorman, Solomon, Sidekick, Unix, Lautrust, Kingpin, Crushabull Sires of young stock: sexed Doorman, Unix, Lautrust, Crushabull, embryos Sires of milking herd: Sanchez, Atwood, Gold Chip, Dempsey, McCutchen, Sid
