We invite you to join CFUW Perth & District this coming Monday for an informative session on youth homelessness Lanark County.
Alex is reunited with his biological brother after 14 years apart and it is very emotional! Their foster care story is like so many others - they were split up ...in the foster care system and adopted out separately. This is an emotional reunion, but I am so happy these bio brothers reunited! Follow Crazy Pieces for more videos! See more

This #givingtuesday May 5th consider a donation to Cornerstone Landing as we support young people through this challenging time. We have been handing out gift ...cards to help with basic needs, hygiene supplies, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies etc. But one of the most important things we do is provide rent supplements for young people and your donations help us do this! Help us help a young person secure housing, find employment and graduate school! Find the Canada Helps button on our website for donations.
Week #3 Craft Activity with our Foster Families. Amazing.
We started a weekly art / window decorating competition in all of our KYS foster homes with the kids! Take a look at these beautiful master pieces!

Hey folks, I totally respect the recommendations to socially isolate and stock up on some supplies, but please be aware that not everyone has the income to stoc...k up for 2-3 weeks on food and supplies. Please consider donations to the local food banks or other services that support folks of lower incomes. We support young moms through Cornerstone Landing and they are worried food like meat will be in short supply as they cant afford to buy 3 weeks of food at a time. Please think about your neighbours. Really excited to be speaking about youth homelessness at this event hosted by the Canadian Federation of University Women! Also happy to be joined by our Housi...ng Case Worker, Elle Halladay! Although we will be speaking about youth homelessness much of what we talk about applies to adults as well. The approach we have taken to addressing youth homelessness can also be applied to adults, so come out and join us on Monday, March 16th at 7pm at the Perth Legion. This event is open to the public.
So you keep having them and well keep raising them. This congressman spoke about the family hes built with his husband of 28 years in this emotional testimony against the Trump admins anti-LGBTQ+ adoption policies

Another example of the pitiful consequences for sexually abusing children. 6 months in exchange for fondling a 10 year old boy! And the idea that because their wasnt penetration, the sentence should be less is ridiculous. This was a person who was in a position of authority and took advantage of that in the worst way. My thoughts are with the victims who have had to endure so much in their young lives. Courage exemplified. https://www.recorder.ca//foster-dad-gets-5%c2%bd-years-for
Its that time of year again...COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR 2020...taking place Saturday, February 22 in Smiths Falls from the Youth Arena. We will have guest spea...kers, hot food, hot drinks, music, a DINOSAUR and more. ...and this year we will be serving HOT CHOCOLATE FROM OUR TINY HOME on the route! If you want to get involved, here is what you need to do: 1. Round up a team: Could be your friends from school, your colleagues from work, a group of neighbours, community agency or you could join our team at Cornerstone Landing. 2. Register your team and walkers at www.cnoy.org 3. Download your pledge sheet or pay a registration fee. 4. Start fundraising. 5. Challenge a team: If you know another group that may be interested in participating, challenge them online with a video. Its always fun to see who can raise the most. 6. Check the cnoy website often to see how your team is doing! We also need VOLUNTEERS. Send me an email at [email protected] if you can help. REMEMBER: You are helping Cornerstone Landing Youth Services support 75-85 young people every year. Help us help them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qsCW7jxRZE
What is needed is an approach that allows practitioners to approach trauma with a fresh lens that promotes a holistic view of healing from traumatic experiences and environments. One approach is called healing-centered, as opposed to trauma-informed. A healing centered approach is holistic involving culture, spirituality, civic action and collective healing. A healing-centered approach views trauma not simply as an individual isolated experience, but rather highlights the ways in which trauma and healing are experienced collectively. The term healing-centered engagement expands how we think about responses to trauma and offers more holistic approach to fostering well-being. https://medium.com//the-future-of-healing-shifting-from-tr
