We are excited to announce the addition of Naturopathic Doctor ALEX KELLER to Keller Athletic Therapy at the start of May!! Appointment times are already filling up quickly so if you wish to book with Alex, please contact us ASAP! Alex will also be offering Community Acupuncture for anyone who is interested. Sessions will be held Tuesdays from 2-7pm. What is Community Acupuncture? ... Community Acupuncture is the group approach to Traditional Chinese Medicine. This style of treating patients remains more common in areas of the world where Eastern and Western medicine are practiced integratively. In a community setting, groups of patients are treated simultaneously. By treating multiple patients at once, the cost for treatment is less and care becomes more accessible. How it Works? Typical CA clinics have between 5 and 10 treatment chairs or tables in a shared, open space. The intake is performed in a whisper and normally takes 15 minutes. It involves a condensed interview, along with tongue and pulse diagnosis. The practitioner then inserts the acupuncture needles in specific locations based on the treatment plan or other treatments like cupping are applied. Patients then rest for 45 minutes and most tend to fall asleep. Many patients prefer the community setting because it allows for a reduced intake; patients get to relax for an extended period; and receiving treatment in a group setting can be more healing than receiving treatment alone. What does it cost? Treatments cost $25/session, which includes a 15-minute Traditional Chinese Medicine intake, followed by a 45-minute treatment.
