For the past three decades this combination has been at my fingertips when I'm illustrating by hand. The Bienfang Graphics 360 art pad gives me minimal bleed and is a good thin paper. And the Staedtler Lumocolor gives me precision in a marker. A lot of my lines, especially fine detail is done with the lightest touch so that the marker tip barely touches the paper. There's a fine margin for error there where you can mess things up if you're not concentrating and most times I'm holding my breath when getting into fine detail. Sometimes you need the hands of a surgeon, I swear.

Each summer the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame hosts a program called the Camp of Excellence for high school students to develop their basketball skills while also focusing on mental skills training, conditioning, nutrition and more under the supervision of some of our provinces sports athletes and trainers.

I gotta start sharing more of my work because I'm working on some cool stuff these days. Like the illustrations I did for this video, the latest single from Myl...es Goodwyn, of course the leader of April Wine, but these days a blues artist in his own right. It was fun working with him to develop the characters featured in the lyrics of this song called "Fish Tank Blues" featuring Will Van Hansolo on slide guitar. Video by Warren Robert. This was a fun project to work on. Album packaging for The Northern Ramblers who are releasing their new 13 song album this weekend. Looking forward to hearing this. They'll be live at Jamieson's Pub this weekend.

UNCOVERED ILLUSTRATION FROM THE PAST: A drawing I did of the Rankin Family back in 1992. After the release of their "Fare Thee Well Love" album in 1990, I became a huge fan of their music, especially with me being from Cape Breton an' all. So, in hopes of this being the cover of their next album "North Country", I actually pitched this to their management. It was turned down, the explanation was it was not the direction they were looking to go in. But I've kept it all these y...ears. This was done quite differently than how I'm used to working in that it was drawn in reverse. Ie, the board was brown so I had to draw everything with a white pencil then other "light" colours. Kind of like drawing a negative or an x-ray, if you will. Anyway I was quite happy with the results. I don't think the band ever got to see it and not many others have laid eyes on it either. Well, now that we're in storm season, winter won't be too far away. Prepared thyselves accordingly. Some illustration work I did for a Nova Scotia Power ad. It was great working with Revolve on the creative for this.
