Sleep is so important in maintaining a healthy and well balanced mindset. Unfortunately with my health, sleep isn’t something I get. I am so frustrated with the very little sleep I do get. It changes everything, and heightens my pain. It’s little things like being able to sleep through the night that I used to take for granted and I want to encourage you today to appreciate the small things, including being able to sleep through the night.

Sometimes I wouldn’t have thought I had it in me to fight but I found the strength somewhere. Whether that was for meds, my kids, or a cause I believed in, but it was so important for me to keep going. I realized that backing down wasn’t an option when it comes to something I feel strongly about.

Over the years I searched for happiness in so many places, other people, shopping, etc. Once I had the strength and courage to look deep inside myself and start fixing me from the inside I can truly say I slowly but surely found what I was looking for.

In my opinion, a part of my success in still being alive is that I have been my own health advocate. I have chosen to fight for myself every step of the way. Tune in to today’s podcast as I dive deeper into what triggered this response for me, and very scary experience with my son that solidified this me. I will ALWAYS do my own research and stand up for what I believe. Link is in my bio!

In the beginning there was a little girl without a care in the world . She was happy , secure and innocent. This week I am talking about my early childhood and how special these times were to me. I have been through a lot in my life, but I can always find comfort in remembering my upbringing, even though it wasn't always perfect and we endured a lot as a family, at the end of the day, I was loved and that's all I could ask for. Tune in now to Thanks For The Memories available wherever you listen to podcasts!

What are your treasures?

Kelly Wilson 06.09.2020

This week we are talking about health. If you checked out my most recent podcast, you know about the long, exhausting fight we had to with government to get the medication I needed to prolong my life. While I believe that fighting and staying optimistic is the best way to handle these situations (most of the time) another reason that I (and most people around me) believe I am still alive is because no matter what the odds were, I always strived to learn as much as I could ab...out my diagnosis. Sometimes this would mean doctors, google, any kind of research I could get my hands on really. So on this Monday I will leave you with one thing that I strongly believe applies to all situations: Knowledge is power.

In the last month, there has definitely been tougher moments - doctors visits, tests, pain, lack of sleep and more. But I choose to see the good. The laughter, the snuggles with my grandson, the visits with family, beautiful weather, great glasses of wine over good conversations with amazing friends. And this is just to name a few. I don’t pretend to know everyone’s trauma, or pain they’re experiencing. I just know that this way of living has worked for me. Beginning and ending every day with gratitude and positivity no matter how many negative things come your way.

NEW PODCAST One sunny afternoon in the fall of 2011 I was out for a walk enjoying my day, when all of a sudden I heard a pop. My knee had almost given out and became very painful, it started to swell and tripled in size. What took place over the next few weeks shocked and horrified me, but once I again, I began a new fight most thought I was destined to lose. Click the link in my bio to hear more about the 2ND terminal illness I battle every single day.

Over the weekend, two of my good friends and I put on our catering and party planning hats to create the most fantastic COVID friendly baby shower for a dear friend of ours and her baby girl. We baked mini desserts, cupcakes, cheesecakes, meringue, and many other treats. We decorated tables, tied balloons and let the party commence. We had such an incredible time celebrating and indulging. It is always so rewarding when these plans come together, but we'd be lying if we said it was easy! Shout out to the party planners who make it look effortless!

Sometimes you meet people at pivotal moments in your life, and it’s evident that you were destined to have that person in your life. My next guest is exactly that. A stranger I met on a plane, who quickly became a friend, I will cherish forever. Yvonne Murphy is a woman of many talents. She’s a singer, an actress, and a writer. She is a mother of 4, a grandmother of 9, and an NHL wife, who remains a prominent face in the hockey community. ... I am so thankful that you guys get to know her further, check out Stranger On A Plane now airing on all podcast platforms! https://podcasts.apple.com//my-life-in-pieces/id1505408889

Happy New Brunswick Day!

Kelly Wilson 04.03.2020

Eat the damn cake. I said these words earlier this week, and I meant it whole heartedly. I have struggled with body image issues, as I know most women have. Society puts a lot of pressure on us to look a certain way, which often leads us to hate the body that keeps us moving daily. I restricted myself for so many years, and forbid myself from eating that one bite of cake - then one day I woke up with celiac disease and could no longer eat any of the chocolate cake, even if I wanted to. Life is short. Instead of looking in the mirror today and hating the body you have, realize that your body is perfect no matter the size or shape. If you want a bite of cake, then have that bite of cake and enjoy every second of that delicious flavour. Love yourself and enjoy your life. You need to be your biggest cheerleader.
