Dr. Scott Martyna has recently become a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He has joined a distinguished group of surgeons from around the world that meet a stringent list of requirements and also demonstrate ethical fitness and professional proficiency in their surgical specialty.

KOFS is now using dynamic navigation technology for the placement of dental implants. General anesthesia services have been back in full swing for over a month now at KOFS. The patient experience has been overwhelmingly positive. As BC enters phase two of re-opening, our clinic is now transitioning away from being an emergency centre, as dental offices in town are able to reopen. Beginning this week, we are excited to begin seeing patients for a wider range of surgeries. If your appointment has been cancelled we will be contacting you to reschedule your appointment. We look forward to being able to see our patients again, especially those of you that have been patiently waiting for treatment. ... We are following all guidelines and recommendations provided by the BC College of Dental Surgeons, Interior Health, BCCDC, the Provincial Health Office, and WorkSafe BC. We would like to inform you that for the foreseeable future, and according to our College's and government's guidelines, we will remain open to see patients for emergency cases only. We have cancelled non-emergency appointments and will call each patient back to re-schedule once we have a timeline of when we will be able to re-open. We will be reviewing each emergency referral on a case by case basis. Dr. Martyna will speak to the referring doctor and/or the patient directly to determine if the patient needs to be seen in our clinic. Stay safe everyone!

The Kelowna Centre for Emergency Dental Care has had a busy three weeks. The dental community has come together in full force with over 30 dentist volunteers providing over 250 phone consults for patients. 82 patients have been seen in clinic for emergency and urgent dental care. Kelowna Oral & Facial Surgery is opening a brand new, modern clinic near the hospital in the Fall of 2019. In the interim, Dr. Scott Martyna and his team are seeing patients at a temporary location in Orchard Plaza.
