Kelowna is growing UP. No doubt this raises concerns over fire safety, building materials, and stress on our local fire department. An interesting point came up in a recent article on Castanet... "I would be more comfortable fighting a fire in a high rise than I would a four-storey apartment building." Wait. WHY?! ... 1. As outlined in this article, high-rises are pre-engineered for fire safety with a fire rating of 2 hours. 2. (our favourite reason) CONCRETE DOESN'T BURN Here's the thing though...we can't stress this enough... CONCRETE IS NOT JUST FOR HIGH-RISES! BETTER FIRE SAFETY IS NOT JUST FOR HIGH-RISES!
