HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!! This brilliant woman is our main veterinarian and owner of KVH clinic Dr. Ellen always wanted to be vet from a young age, and she worked her butt off to get there. She put herself through university to get her bachelor's degree, then put herself through veterinary college to get her DVM.... She was mentored by the great Dr. Barbara C., and took over her practice in 2017. Since then, Dr. Ellen has brought the clinic up to date with new equipment and techniques, and strives to be the best doctor for her furry patients. She has a beautiful family that she cherishes and a thriving business. To any woman out there who thinks they have to decide between a rewarding career or having a family, here is a strong example of a woman who has both. KVH has always run with a strong female-dominated staff, each one an incredible woman who is passionate about caring for animals. Celebrate the amazing women in your life!! . . . #happyinternationalwomensday #exampleofastrongwoman #femaleclinic #femaleworkteam #weareallstrongwomen #celebratethewomeninyourlife #femaleveterinarian #workingmom #careerandkids

Sometimes, the best way to get through the tough days is with humor. Thanks to our tech Christine for this, hearing every employee walk into the bathroom and shout "AH!!" was an excellent form of humor therapy for a day . . . #humortherapy #getsusthroughthetoughtimes #humorintheworkplace #goodlaugh #clinichumor #vethumor

Happy caturday!! Bringing home a new kitten is a wonderful experience, but it can be hard for your adult cat to adjust. It's been a couple weeks since Rocky has come into Patches' home, and slowly she has warmed up to him. Tonight is the first time they have both sat near each other with their mom. Progress!... . . . #happycaturday #catsofinstagram #catsofkelowna #newkitten #rockyandpatches #shedoesnthatehim #canneverhavetoomanycats #2isbetterthan1 See more

This Remembrance Day, please take time for a moment of silence at 11am to remember and honor those who have fought for our country. We remember not only the men, women, and families, but the animals that gave their lives for us as well. Millions of animals have served in our wars. From camels and mules used to transport food and wounded soldiers, to canaries used to test for gas, to faithful dogs who would carry messages between troops or carry medical supplies to injured so...ldiers on the front lines. Even wildlife was used as mascots and to boost troop morale, such as bears and foxes. Cats were kept on as pets and to hunt rats in the trenches. We will never know the true number of animals that served in the wars and helped us physically and mentally, but we can honor them by remembering . . . #lestweforget #remembranceday2020 #takeamomentofsilence #wewillrememberthem #honourthem #forgottenheroes #animalsofwar #theunmarkedgraves

Dr. Ellen loves all creatures. This is her longest living pet, Indy. Ellen got Indy when she was a teenager, and the snake spent some time in a high school classroom. One time Ellen tried to feed Indy a white mouse when she wasn't hungry, and they became friends. Now Indy will not eat white mice. This spring our 5 ft+ girl will be 23 years old! She is still going strong and could be with us another 10 years if we are lucky ... . . . #snakesofinstagram #reptilesarepetstoo #gentlecreatures #olderthansomeofus #over2decades #drellen See more

We are sorry to announce that we will be closing our doors to the public effective tomorrow, Friday Dec. 4th. Due to the high number of covid infections in BC, we have decided that the best plan to keep our staff and our clients safe is to limit the amount of contact we all have. When you arrive please ring the door bell or call to check in.... We know things will be difficult for awhile, but please bear with us with these new changes. . . . #covid19protocols #newprotocols #closeddoors #drellenvet

It was National Animal Shelterand RescueAppreciation Weekthis past week! We would like to give a HUGE shout out to all of the amazing rescues out there, but especially the ones we work with. The tireless efforts of so many dedicated people have literally saved thousands and thousands of animals from dire situations like hoarders, backyard breeders, and high-rate kill shelters. Their volunteers drive all over not just Canada but the states as well to bring home these lost s...ouls in hopes of rehabilitating, treating, and finding these animals their furever home. At KVH we work with many rescues in an effort to help as many animals as can. @alleycatsalliance @pawsitforward @kelowna_kitten_rescue @purrairie.cats @okanaganhumanesociety @ourlasthopeanimalrescue just to name a few, but there are more. This adorable puppy came in through @pawsitforward and was being fostered by our clinic manager Kristina, but ended up being a 100% foster fail (which is a good thing! Foster fails are when the foster falls in love with the animal and decides to adopt them into their family). And who can blame her, when the puppy looks like that and hugs your arm?? Give a shout out to a rescue organization in your community or that you support, they deserve it! . . . #Nationalanimalshelterandrescueappreciationweek #weloverescues #rescueismyfavoritebreed #dogsofinstagram #dogsofkelowna #puppiesofinstagram #puppyofkelowna #rescuedogsofinstagram #cantsaynotothoseeyes #whocouldturnthatdown #newpuppy #puppylove
