It's time to celebrate?! Ok let's back up for a sec... I'll be totally honest. When I decided to take possession of my dream studio to build a righteous collective space for creative women, I did NOT expect that the space would be immediately unuseable in the way I imagined. ... It was about 2 days after signing the lease that the term "social distancing" entered our vocabulary and suddenly my vision for this collective was tossed on its head. I could not have imagined this. I know, none of us could have. I will say that this entire situation has allowed me to explore so many new avenues of creative problem solving that I had never been to before. It has caused me to trust my gut and inspiration, and to keep pushing forward with that fire I felt when I had my initial vision for this space. It has also taught me to relax and trust. I've certainly had my moments of fear, doubt, and worry. We all have. And through this weird and cloudy time, I completely neglected something really important... I forgot to celebrate!! Celebrate the accomplishment of acquiring this space and following that little voice of inspiration that led me here. Oh hi! It feels like it’s been a minute since I’ve been here. It’s not because I’m feeling neglectful. This space represents so much to me. This Facebook page was the beginning of a massive life shift for me. When I launched this business, I was venturing out on my first ever entrepreneurial journey, pursuing a career that I spent my whole life not believing was possible. Becoming a full time professional photographer and filmmaker literally felt like it was something... that other people did. Not me. It wasn’t even that long ago that I finally got up the guts to go for it. So many limiting beliefs needed to be crushed. And holy smokes, SO MUCH has happened since then. My goal with this business was to be a family photographer and filmmaker. I felt so inspired by the idea of documenting others’ stories, it truly fired me up. Although I still LOVE documenting families in that way, the storytelling inspiration has now evolved into a whole new realm of magic. I am now the co-owner of a production business, with a kickass business partner, focusing on communicating the essence of women that freaking LOVE what they do so much that they want to shout it from the rooftops, AND I get to illustrate that for them through my favourite medium of all timefilmmaking. Ok no big deal or anything, but speaking from personal experienceif you have a passion for something, MAKE IT YOUR FULL TIME JOB. Find the guts and just do it. You’ll never look back.
