Kelsey Reichel, Green Party Candidate for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity

Hard to swallow pill for some Canadians who feel the need to chastise other Canadians for how they voted: The oil sands and other fossil fuels are causing our planet to become unliveable, and the only way to stop that is to stop burning oil. Now is the time to come together to figure out how we are going to phase out Canada’s oil industry, while putting our skills to work building the renewable energy infrastructure of the 21st century.

Well after 6 months of parental leave and 5 weeks of campaigning when I could, it’s back to the old day job for me. I’m extremely proud of what we accomplished with no organization in place and very limited resources, and very thankful to the 920 people who marked their X next to my name yesterday, more than tripling the Green Party’s previous record in Bonavista-Burin-Trinity. Congratulations to Churence Rogers, Sharon Vokey, and Matthew Cooper on a race well run. I never ...joined the Green Party because I thought it would give me the fast-track to power, prestige, or a pension. I joined them because I want to be of service to my community, and to do my part in making our country a better place. In my mind the Green Party has the best policies to do that. In the coming weeks we are going to begin the process of forming an electoral district association. It’s my hope that we can build on the contacts made in this election to establish a strong executive, and by the time the next election rolls around, be ready to hit the ground running with money and an organization of volunteers. I want to say thanks to Tonya Johnson, Gordon Wheaton, Teddy Drover, Chris Greaves, Stephen Thorne, Judy Byrne, Annette and Bruno Reichel, and everyone else who donated or supported the campaign in any way. Your help made a huge difference and I hope you will all stay in touch and be a part of the riding association. Onward and upward from here! PEACE AND LOVE Kelsey

This is it! We don't have the deep pockets of the other parties. Can you help spread our positive message before people head to the polls?

Spent the last day of the campaign knocking on doors and talking to whoever I saw in Blaketown, Dildo, and, fittingly so, in Green’s Harbour. I wish we had the time and resources to be able to get to every community in the riding but in such a vast riding it wasn’t in the cards. I want to thank all the amazing volunteers and donors who helped me so much during the campaign. Your help made a huge difference and I suspect we might surprise some people with a solid showing when... the polls close tomorrow. I also want to thank everyone who has supported the campaign in whatever way over the past 5 weeks. At the end of the day we can be proud that we stood up for what we believe in, and fought to bring needed change to our politics to create a society our kids will be proud of. Again I humbly ask for your vote tomorrow. And win, lose, or draw, the struggle continues the day after tomorrow!
