Good morning! It’s hard to imagine as we see the snow falling that in only 4 short months we will be planting again, and even before that working on starting seedlings. In the photo is one of our dedicated youth volunteers. She makes herself available to be mentored one-on-one with our expert gardener and seed collection manager. She has been with us since the beginning of this journey in March 2017. We were so glad when she turned 14 and we could count her as a youth (14-29). Here she is just turned 15 and she is taking a try at using the wheel hoe. For her and all of the youth that have been volunteering, please help us reach more people and businesses in the community and surrounding communities. As we share and promote the donations drive, we would like to take a moment to thank our dedicated volunteers. We have about 15 core volunteers, including several youth. There are another 5 volunteers that help on special tasks, such as our carpenters working on the seed drying room. Many volunteers are members of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and some volunteers come from Prince Edward County and neighbouring communities. We have come so far and we have made deep and lasting friendships. Nyawenkowa!

This is a pollination cage used at KSSLC to offer some protection to vulnerable crops, like maize and carrots, and it can be draped with pollination fabric to prevent crosses from pollen in the wind. Please share and support our donations drive! Nyawenkowa
