I wanted to paint Calvin (centre), my Son-in-Law, because of the sense that I get that he is in the 'zone'. The painting took awhile to come together but it's finished now. 8"x16" oil on canvas. Check out his site at https://www.facebook.com/ampfreek
"Calvin McCormick, Lost in his Craft" 8" X16" Oil on canvas painting. I took the photo for the painting of Calvin playing at a local venue - had to paint the feeling of being in the 'zone'.

"Under Kastanjen (Chestnut tree)" 24" x 30" Oil on canvas painting. Old town courtyard that I painted from a photo I took while on the island of Gamla Stan, part of Stockholm Sweden. Prints available.
The painting "Dijon Duel" is done. I really was inspired by the tenacity of Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux to fight for the finish line in the 1979 French Grand Prix to get 2nd and 3rd. Have framed it as well. Oil on canvas 14" X 18". Available on request.
Recently finished "Under Kastanjen (Chestnut tree). I took the photo on a trip to Sweden in the old part of Stockholm - beautiful Gamla Stan island. I painted it as a fond memory of a great trip.
"Dijon Duel" Oil on canvas, 14" X 18" Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnpux spar for the last 4 or 5 laps to eventual 2nd place for Gilles and 3rd for Rene. Spectacular racing. Original available.
More work done on this piece. Had the cars in then took them out then added again. Getting there. Worked on the crowds. I think I might call it 'Dijon Dual'. Gilles and Rene duke it out in the final laps of the 1979 French Grand Prix.
Inspired by a post by one of my F1 friends Enrico Valente about the great race between Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux in the Dijon Grand Prix in 1979, I went on a quest to paint a moment in that challenge. Using grainy footage and photos of the track and the cars I put together a completed pass by Gilles. I'm posting the progress.

It is a painting of a Canola field on the St. Laurence River based on a photo I took while traveling through. Oil on canvas. It is a bit a a departure from my usual subjects but still a result a scene found while driving - which I love.

Original and prints available.
I visited my family in Winnipeg for a 40th Wedding Anniversary. While there I stopped into the Royal Aviation Museum and felt like I had to paint the motor of the bush plane, the Fairchild 71C. A big asset to early Canadian transportation. The Painting is close to being done.

The Ferrari 250 GTO V12 painting is done, I am glad to say. It was so satisfying to work on this piece.
Just wanting to show some of the progress on the Ferrari V12 GTO motor painting. Still a way to go but it is taking shape.
The painting of the Ferrari V12 motor is progressing. The chrome stacks will take a bit of time. Looking forward to working on the reflections of light and colour.
1915 Harley Davidson, Model 11 - F. Painting is original oil on canvas. 16" X 20". Reference photo from David Blattel. Available.
Started a rather large painting - for me - a Ferrari 250 GTO V12 motor of around 1961. Canvas is 36" X 48". Thought I'd share the progress.
The painting of the 1915 Harley Davidson motor is done. I even have a frame for it - so it’s ready to hang. The painting is 16X20 and the frame adds 3 to the size. Now to move on to the next painting. Another project beckons. I will show my drawing stage shortly.
This is just a few photos of the progress on the painting of the 1915 Harley Davidson motor. I will post the finished work soon.
I have wanted to do some motors again and I started with this old Harley Davidson motor. Just the preliminary drawings. I will post the progress.

I am part of a group of artists that meet at the Ottawa School of Art for Open Studio sessions on Thursday nights. Blair Sharpe used to teach us on that night. We miss that low key but poignant teaching style. A bit more progress on the Lancaster Bomber.
I wanted to paint the Lancaster because of it's Canadian connections and that we (in Hamilton Ontario) have one of 2 that fly. Check out the night time passage over the clouds. Fitting - I think. Lets see how the painting progresses.
I started a new project - and not a car racing this time. I will try my hand at an airplane - the Lancanster Bomber. I will keep you posted on the progress.
Thought I would show the Lewis Hamilton painting featuring a frame - I think it enhances
