Loaded up ready for the next Kenovations project!
Kenovations teaming up with McCallum General Contracting to finish this unfinished basement room and large hallway for a client in London’s Sunningdale neighbourhood. Insulation and vapour barrier applied to the exterior walls and acoustic insulation in the ceiling. Drywall and first coat tape and mud almost complete. Hoping to be ready to paint-ready after a couple more days work! Trim work to be completed after floor installation. Part 2 of this project (to be done a little later) involves framing in a new room and finishing the same way. Stay tuned for more pictures!
Past due update on little Jack’s aquarium stand and his completed fish paradise. Valentine goldfish Hugs and Kisses are enjoying their new surroundings and are unaware of the magnificent stand that supports their entire world.
A little winter workshop fun. The beginnings of a fish tank stand for a soon-to-be toddler aquarist named Jack
Kenovations partnered up with another small contractor for this quick little project. A non-permanent blind to conceal new pool equipment until a larger plan for the space is developed. Also included in this job was the installation of new stairs from an elevated deck to the new patio around the pool and swapping out older wooden spindles on the deck railing and stair rails for metal ones to match the fence you see to the left in this photo.
Another nice little Kenovations project finished up! These folks were looking to tune up their basement workout area/ yoga studio. The space measures roughly 13 ft wide by 15 ft deep Insulated subfloor panels and plank vinyl flooring provide a warmer, more comfortable base for activities, as well as reduced impact during jumping exercises. High end matting was previously used directly on the concrete floor and will be arranged on the new floor as well. A partition was built ...to support the future installation a floor-to-ceiling mirror. A full motion ceiling TV mount in the corner replaced a TV stand to free up space and get the cables and receiver out of sight. The client is working to add wall coverings and additional mood lighting to complete the area.
First project out of my upgraded shop. A little neighbourhood library for one of my favourite clients. Architectural elements borrowed from houses on the street. Metal roofing panels were leftovers from the client’s house. Quality materials and extra steps were taken to ensure that books will be protected from the elements and that the library remains in service for years to come. Scrabble letters spell out the library’s name for a little fun. The interior is laid out to ac...commodate children’s books, trade paperbacks and drugstore novels. The library will be mounted on an post on the boulevard on the street, across from the client’s home. A slow and somewhat tedious project, but one that captivated me.
Kenovations wraps up 2019 with this cosmetic upgrade project in a beautifully renovated century home in Old South, London. The homeowners wanted a makeover on the existing two-sided fireplace to bring it more in line with the rest of the finishes in the house. Mission style panels were fabricated and installed on either end, as well as to box in the chimney to match the visual weight of the fireplace.... A simple bookcase was made and integrated into the design and into the existing trim to re-establish some separation of the living room and dining room. Smaller versions of the existing crown moulding were applied under the new fireplace top and at the top of the chimney, to also tie into existing finishes.
Back in Cottage Country! The owners wanted to replace the two IKEA cabinets in the master bedroom with a more built-in look. Cabinets with shaker style doors were built, painted and installed. Upper cabinets were added to provide storage for blankets and pillows. A substantial crown moulding provides an interesting feature. The existing baseboard was used on the end wall to complete the built-in look. Both cabinets have upper and lower clothes rods, providing ample storage. One cabinet has a section for longer gaments
That’s a wrap on another exciting Kenovations project; a complete bathroom reno! Out with the old and in with the new. The homeowners selected and purchased all of the fixtures and finishes, with Kenovations completing the renovation and installation work. Renovation work included removal of old cabinets, tub surround, toilet and flooring. Changes included consolidation to a single sink, relocating vanity lights and plug and increasing shower ceiling height. New installation...s included soaker tub and shower controls, new light and tiling in the shower, upgraded ceiling exhaust fan, wall tiling with complementary accent course, floor tiles and tile base, Stonewood Bath cabinets and new toilet. Remaining walls, ceiling, doors and trim were refreshed with new paint. Bathroom accessories and art work were also installed.
Turned this basic closet into an exciting and stylish pantry with far more storage and utility. Shelves were deepened and varied in height to provide more flexibility. The door height was also increased 6 to allow greater access to the top shelf. Three full-depth drawers were added to accommodate less-used packaged food items, which freed up shelf space in the kitchen. New doors and hardware give an updated look, which has initiated the same refresh on all doors throughout the house.
Almost there on this feature wall, a focal point for this new basement. Custom cabinets delineate the main sitting area and nicely frame the yet to be mounted television. Shaker-style, inset doors still to be mounted in lower section on each side. A small crown moulding completes the built-in look. The mantle is a striking piece of live-edge lumber, de-barked and refinished by the homeowners, prior to fitting into place.
Nice little shower project: tile board, waterproofing and tile installation. Also installing vanity, toilet and trim. Kenovations is doing the finishing touches on this new basement construction, with the balance of work completed by other contractors, including installation of the shower enclosure. Stay tuned for more updates on this project!
Father and son teamed up for this part of the current Kenovations project; stone veneer and hearth to show off the electric fireplace insert. Stay tuned as this progresses - more to come!
