April 14, 2021 is the International Day of Pink! International Day of Pink has one purpose: to create a more inclusive and diverse world. We do this by encouraging young people to challenge social norms, ask more of their educators, and stand up against bullying towards their LGBTQ2S peers. Whether it’s in Canada or beyond, we need to stand up against hateful beliefs to keep the clock from turning backwards on our efforts towards establishing equality for the 2SLGBTQIA+ comm...unity. When I think about what makes a strong city councillor, I think about the many facets that we need to consider for responsible decision-making to occur, not least of which is public health. Public health isn't just a provincial issue-- issues such as housing, economic development, and poverty are public health issues that are dealt with largely at the municipal level. We were able to wrap it up just before the storm, but not without meeting some great neighbours. We heard concerns about road safety in the neighbourhood, city services like grass cutting, and how residents are feeling some distrust against our current government.
