Happy Valentine's Day!

Kerry-Anne 13.05.2021

Saying goodbye to good friends who've passed away in the last few months and to 2020. We're wishing you a Happy New Year; lasting health, fulfillment, beautiful music and we hope, countless moments with family and friends.

Thinking of my mom at Christmas time... I hope you're finding some joy as the holiday season approaches. This year many of us will be separated from our families no matter what we might be celebrating. I'm thinking of my friends who are sharing dinner on the web this week with the people they love. Je pense à ma maman et à mon père ces jours-ci. Je les aimais tant. I had such wonderful parents. My dad was a musician and my mom was a wonderful knitter, cook and listener. They... were beautiful people. I wrote "We Are One Again" for my mom after she passed. May you have many more wonderful moments with your parents and if they have already gone, remember the love. Je vous souhaite un très Joyeux Noël. Merry Christmas!

The Laurentians were beautiful these past few days. A little snow, not too cold and the air was clear and good to breathe. I've written a few more songs and tomorrow morning I'll be recording some Christmas tunes with my good friend and pianist Michael Woytiuk. You can hear him play and hear his great arrangements on YouTube. I hope you're having a good week!

2020 has been a rough year for everyone, particularly those who have been ill or who have lost loved ones. But it's also given us time to do things we often don't get around to or take the time to do. I've been writing a lot of songs over the past eight months, for adults and for kids. I often write serious songs for adults but the phrase "Six Feet Apart is Better than Six Feet Under" got stuck in my head. As Michael, my trumpet playing husband, pianist Chad Linsley and I had... a show for the City of Beaconsfield, I wanted to include a few of my own tunes. Eh bien voilà, "Six Feet Apart" came to be! This version also includes our good friend Jean-Louis Locas, playing the double bass that used to belong to my dad Barney in Saskatoon. Jean-Louis plays with the Cirque du soleil all over the world! So here it is, a little levity in these crazy COVID times which I hope will make you laugh and get you humming along!

I'm so happy to be sharing some of my new recordings with you. Throughout the pandemic I've had the chance to write and perform regularly. Several weeks ago I r...ecorded several original songs and some of my arrangements with pianist Chad Linsley, Mike Cartile, trumpet player; Jean-Louis Locas, double bassist and pianist Michael Woytiuk. Thanks so much for listening. My webpage address is www.kerry-anne.net T
