Kerry Park Curling Centre 21.12.2020

Hello everyone. I know there are questions regrading the announcement yesterday by the PHO. Below is the statement released late yesterday by Curl BC. Bottom line - Curling may continue while we await more clear guidance. I will keep everyone updated as information becomes known. Please continue to practice and enforce all of our safety measures. Remind your members of the importance of self-screening before going to the rink, washing and sanitizing hands, wearing a mask and ...maintaining physical distancing at all times. These measures should not be done in isolation; they must all be done in order for our safety protocols to work. Darrel Downey Acting President Kerry Park Curling Centre Covid-19 update Dec 2 Many will have heard Dr Bonnie Henry’s statement today. In it she said that indoor adult team sports are being suspended. The press release that followed the statement is available to read here: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2020HLTH0063-001998 Of note, it says: All indoor adult team sport is also prohibited. This includes basketball, cheerleading, combat sports, martial arts, floor hockey, floor ringette, ice hockey, ringette, netball, skating, soccer, squash and volleyball. At this time, it is unclear whether curling has been suspended. The team sports listed are sports that usually involve some contact, whereas curling under the modified rules does not involve contact and we are able to maintain the minimum 2m distancing. Therefore, we recommend that clubs maintain status quo until this can be clarified. At this time it may be helpful to remind curlers that physical distancing is the reason we may be allowed to continue and that they should maintain their efforts to do this. We will send another update as soon as we have more information.
