Hanfu (meaning clothing of the Han people) is a name for pre-17th century traditional clothing of the Han Chinese, which are the predominant ethnic group of China. Many wear the clothing out of appreciation for Chinese culture and the fashion itself.

Kimono is a Japanese clothing item. A kimono consists of long strips of rectangular fabric that is traditionally hand sewn together in a certain way. Kimono is a valued garment of Japanese elegance, heritage and culture. While kimono was traditionally worn as everyday dress, modern kimono wearers usually dress in kimono for special events, festivals, celebrations, or graduation ceremonies. There are many ways to wear kimomo. It can be worn more traditionally, usually with a more formal, solid coloured kimono, and a fancier knot tied on the obi belt. Many people who wear kimono for the appreciation of the culture and fashion wear what is called komon kimono or yukata. Others have even paired kimono with different cosplays, fashions, and Harajuku influences to create different modern subcategories of kimono.
