LETS TALK ABOUT BABY RACCOONS PART 4 HOW CAN WE PREVENT THIS? This finder noticed a displaced mom at the bottom of a cedar tree with her babies suddenly.... Hours later the mom had moved on with her litter leaving this poor one behind. Stiff, cold, open mouth breathing and dying. As people are getting out in this beautiful weather we are having, humans are also noticing animals coexisting with them. Some homeowners are blocking entrances to nests and some are calling companies to remove nests of all kinds of species and blocking the entrances. At the end of the day, if the family survives at all, by disrupting these nursing stations, humans are just moving the family nesting with them to a neighbor's property and now it becomes their problem? All of the babies we received this week so far are here because of these reasons. People just refusing to coexist at the wrong time. We understand that many humans don't want animals living under their decks, sheds or in roofs.....so what is the answer? When a mom is forced to move herself and babies elsewhere, I can only imagine the intense challenge she has ahead of her to save herself and her family. I mean.......where is she supposed to go exactly and note..... she can only move 1 baby at a time? There is no doubt that many litters just don't survive at all. What we can tell you is that when babies of all species are a little older, mom does take them out of the nest to teach them their next phases. It is our view, that if people can kindly wait about 6 more weeks, all mums will take their babies and move on. That is the time to block entrances. Prevention is the best defence against humans having unwanted guests. Summer is the time to ensure a home is wildlife proof. Not baby season or the middle of winter. #nomoreorphanbabies #raccoonrescue #wildlife

Many orphans can be left a few hours to see if mom comes back...NOT OPOSSUMS! If you see a baby like this one in a yard or anywhere, get it quickly in a little ...box or pet carrier with a blanket and keep warm and call a wild life rescue. Momma opossum can have up to 13 babies. As they grow, they don't all fit in the pouch so they ride on her back. If something startles her and she runs, one can fall off. Momma doesn't know she lost one so please never ever leave one thinking mom will come back... See more
