Loving the spotlight glow on the walnut cabinets and the gold/brass inlay backsplash tile. . It was a challenge to find decorative items to fill the glass door cabinet in a timely manner though!

As a drafter, and not a 3D Illustrator with a diverse knowledge and understanding of vector tools and all that jazz, I found Enscape through my SketchUp instructor at the U of A. It is extremely user friendly and has been my go-to for my photo real renderings.

It’s hard to narrow down the features I’m looking forward to most in my own kitchen renovation. . There’s the wine fridge & pantry area (can’t lie - we already took home this fridge and are currently housing many bottles!) - or, my sons favorite part > the hanging plants . The giant (seam-free) island where we currently have a wall dividing our 1990s sunshine ceiling kitchen from living room.... . Just a little example of how my 3D images go from SketchUp to Enscape to get my final renderings. . The plans are drawn up in Autocad (my first love, and what Ive been drafting on for 20 years!) But oh, how SketchUp and Enscape have changed my world! . Besides drafting a plot plan and addition/renovation today, I had some minor tweaks to this bathroom 3D. . Even though Ive been doing 3D work for half the year, I could still stare at the finished designs for hours afterwards. Anyone else??? Just me???!

The final project of the #SketchUp course I took is due soon. I considered not finishing it so I could focus on actual paying jobs, but it gave me a chance to play around lighting and rendering aspects, so I spent the day (yes, about 5 hours!) adding lighting, adjusting textures and taking pictures. . . A lot of elements are imported (the cabinets, the bed, that closet shelving for example), but it still requires a lot of manipulation to put it exactly where you want it Like those folded clothes and shoes on the shelves inside the closet you can barely see! After doing the gazebo earlier today, I started playing around in SketchUp with my own house; taking out a wall between the kitchen & living room, closing in a staircase for the fridge, and adding an island and pantry wall cabinets... just one of many ideas. Narrowing down siding selections for a shed!

Ever since I was little, I have drawn houses. I used to draw floor plans in my room and imagine the families that would live in them. But the houses would get so big, they could fit a family of 15 or more - with multiple bunk beds in each room (cuz thats every kids dream, right?) . . In the fall, when the leaves covered the ground at the park across the street, a friend & I would rake the leaves into a floor plan of a house. .... A house was (still is) my go-to LEGO creation. . .
