In Ontario, there are mandatory road coverages that must be included on every auto insurance policy. These coverages are: Third Party Liability, Accident Benefits, Direct Compensation Property Damage and Uninsured Motorist. This is typically what people mean by one-way coverage as they are choosing to only include the coverages required by law and will only be covered for physical damage to their vehicle or property in the event of a not-at-fault loss. When someone refers t...o full coverage, they are asking to include or add the optional coverages that will provide further protection for at-fault collisions or losses causes by nature. These coverages are required if leasing or financing a vehicle but are otherwise optional. These coverages are: Comprehensive and Collision. Collision coverage will provide further protection for a loss such as an accident with another vehicle, or an object, or if the vehicle tips/rolls over. Comprehensive coverage covers loss or damages caused by falling or flying objects, fire, theft, vandalism, lightning, windstorms, explosion, hail, rising water, earthquake, riot/civil disturbances, or malicious mischief.
