A SAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Okay here goes. At the beginning of March, when I bought the studio 20 new yoga mats as a birthday present, I couldn’t have fathomed that tw...o weeks later we’d teach our last in-person class. And then when COVID-19 pulled the rug out from under all of us, I was sure it was just an intermission. It didn’t even occur to me that it was the end of this story. Over two months later, no matter how hard I look, I can’t see a way through. Our overhead is too high, and our margins just can’t sustain indefinite social distancing once we are permitted to re-open. There is this cliff up ahead. I could grip the wheel and struggle upstream, but I know in my bones that I’d end up right back here, except sailing over the edge in even deeper debt and having robbed my children of so much more of my presence. I’ve realized it’s time to let go. I remember crying when I finished reading Harry Potter with Zac. There is sadness in endings, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great book. When I look back on the last 4 years, I’m just grateful - for my team, who made everyone feel welcome and taught with such thoughtfulness and heart; for all of you who have been part of this community - it is such a privilege to have been what you needed, a place where you took care of yourself and found connection, where you could bring your crazy babies, where you felt at home. I am so sorry to disappoint you now. I’m sorry to everyone who bought a pass they didn’t finish. I feel awful about that. Your support over the last four years has meant so much to me. Please keep supporting local. I’m thinking about the small business owners lying awake at night, trying to figure it all out. I have no idea what’s next for me. I know I need to focus on my family for a bit and feel the sun on my face. I’ve learned so much from the studio. It’s time to learn how to be still. Thank you for being a part of this story.
