Hello cyclists! Earlier this summer we attempted to get you guys all a discounted accommodation rate at the Glacier Lodge & Mountaineer Lodge at the base of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Bellstar Hotels and Resorts has been a long standing partner of this event and were saddened that they couldn't work with us this year. Unfortunately they were already nearly 100% booked for this weekend; not a horrible problem to have when you're in the accommodation business. We have ...just now received a call from the Guest Services Supervisor at Bellstar (thanks Mila!) to let me know that they've just had a loft unit become available, this unit would sleep 6 people. Also, due to other late cancellations etc they currently have 7 other units of various types available. Bellstar has generously offered any of these units to you Kicking Horse Cup racers at 30% off! The rooms are still available to be booked by the general public also so I'd urge you to act fast. Also, if you know anyone that has decided not to attend this weekend because of their inability to find accommodation, please forward this along to them! Registration is still open!

Greetings cycling fans! We are happy to announce that registration is now live for the 2017 edition of the Kicking Horse Cup! This is the first year for us (Jana & Nate Briggs) to be running this event and we would be most thankful if you attended and raced and celebrated bikes with us. In late spring this year we heard that the race would have to be cancelled, we discussed and both agreed it would be a shame for the cycling community and the Town of Golden to lose this ev...ent. So, we've juggled lots of things including a newborn baby boy (Logan) and a busy Enduro & Down Hill racing calendar and we are now ready to provide you with an amazing road racing experience. Whether you are returning to the KH Cup or joining us for the first time we are confident you will enjoy the program we have for you this year. We will be riding the same three great stages you've come to love (and hate) in the same order and similar timeline to previous years. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke don't fix it!" This special combination of time trial, hill climb, and pursuit road race is sure to fulfill your appetite for road racing. We have great welcome packages coming together for all the racers as well as some nice new T-shirts, also we have amazing prizing for podium finishers and incredible draw prizes that all racers and volunteers will be eligible to win. Different from previous years is our lack of Alberta or British Columbia sanctioning of the race. Unfortunately we were late this season to get things organized and the dates we've chosen (August 19-20) are in conflict with another ABA sanctioned event, and as well we weren't able to add an event to the Cycling BC calendar. We plan to return this event to it's dual sanctioned ways for next year. Benefit to you in these circumstances is a lowered registration fee; all 3 events for $100! Additional perk for the first 40 people to register for all 3 events will be a free KH Cup t-shirt! Please note that registration costs will increase slightly after August 13th. We also want to mention that the community of Golden suffered a great loss in May of this year when a young man ended his battle with depression by taking his own life. This man was a very active member of the community including the president of the Golden Cycling Club. He was also our dear friend and a passionate cycling enthusiast. It is in his memory that we plan to donate proceeds from this event to the Golden Family Center so they can continue to be there for people in need. Good afternoon cycling fans! As some of you may recall we had advertised our desire to donate proceeds from the 2017 KH Cup to the Golden Family Center. Today Jana, Logan, and I finally carried out this plan. Pictured here is Helena from the center receiving a cheque for $400. The Golden Family Center has helped and continues to help so many within our community. We are so fortunate to have this facility and its amazing staff in our town. Mental and emotional health issues a...re not to be ignored and there is support here for you when you need it. In memory and as a small token of our love for Jeremy Harris, and in appreciation of the care the Golden Family Center provides we are happy to make this donation. We hope to do this again in 2018.
