Finland Ice Marathon 2021 highlight reel.
Some of the best kicksledding of the season downtown these days. Dreamy kicks.
All the territorial political parties revealed their platforms this week and nowhere to be seen is: KICKSLEDS FOR ALL. Disappointing. (My protest sign for whatever protest is happening is stored above my shop door). This post is an invitation for all the party faithful hacks to share specific parts of their platforms that speak to active transportation infrastructure, nature connection, climate change mitigation/adaptation, health promotion and suicide prevention (anything ...that is Revolution-related) in the comments for voters to compare. Thank you. Yukon Liberals Yukon New Democratic Party The Yukon Party See more
Ready to head out today. Visit the Kicksled shop 3/31 and 4/1 noon-6.
The kicksled shop is open Wednesday and Thursday this week, noon-6pm. If The Bunny plans to bring a spark or sled to your home, we can make that happen! Give us a call and we’ll have it ready for you. Hop on a kicksled and enjoy this extended spring kicksledding season in the Yukon!
One of the best parts of our amazing day at the @yukonwildlifepreserve was that the most fabulous Lindsay Caskenette, manager of visitor services, joined us for a lot of our journey. She has so much knowledge and great stories, and she may have had something to do with our fortunate timing to see many animals eating their lunch! Thanks for the great idea for a kicksled event, and for your great company today!
Thank you to the @yukonwildlifepreserve for hosting the most perfect day! A fun crew came out to enjoy a discount on admission, and to geek out together about our favourite mode of winter active transportation at one of the best places to kicksled in the Yukon. (Front row for feeding time made it extra special!). Thank you Rob, Marianne, Beatrice, Julien, Gus, Kaitlyn, Shiloh, Brooke, Rosemary, Emrys, Arabelle, Juniper, Molly.... also excellent to see latecomers Judy+fella, C...arol+Monica, Alistair+Xavier on the trail or while we lollygagged in the parking lot. Conditions may be *that good* for a while, so extend your kicksled season and visit the animals. Such a Yukon gem. #kicksled #yukon #kicksledrevolution #yukonwildlifepreserve
Join us on Thursday, March 25 as we kick around the Yukon Wildlife Preserve! Bring your kicksled, thermos and snacks, and get 15% off admission! Meet other kicksledders and embrace winter's gift of glide (and especially this year: spring's gift of glide!). We'll be there at 11:30 for technique demos and we'll kick off the infinity loop at noon. (You'll still get a kicksled discount if you come later... the Preserve is open til 5pm). Hope to see you there!
John Streicker has been a huge support and promoter of the Kicksled Revolution since day one (I wrote about the Kicksled Revolution in my final exam for the climate change course he taught 12 years ago (tho at the time the Revolution was not a business idea, it was a philosophy and goal to implement solutions to concurrent crises we face)). It’s been amazing and fun to have John, Susan and Freda cheering us on and providing an affordable headquarters for the burgeoning movement. Yesterday, John and Noel kicksled-canvassed on the Marsh Lake Kicksled super ice highway - the best kicksled habitat in the entire world! Thank you for being a great friend and MLA, John!
Bengie and Roberta are all set for spring kicksledding! Are you? Kicksled shop is open today (Saturday) 10-2 then we’re not open again til Friday for some fun kicksled adventures. Call us if you miss us today and need a Kicksled before Friday!
Bengie and Roberta are all set for spring kicksledding. Are you? Kicksled shop is open today (Saturday) 10-2. Next week we’re closed Wednesday as we’ll be kicksledding with Champagne and Aishihik First Nation, and closed Thursday because we’ll be kicksledding (with you?) at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve! If you miss us today, call if you need a Kicksled before Friday!
Spring break vibes! Kicksled Shop on 5th between Wood and Jarvis is open this week W-Th-F noon-6, and Saturday 10-2. As we get lured away by sunny spring kicksled adventures, shop hours won’t be as reliable next week... best to call ahead. Get your kicksleds now to avoid disappointment and to get geared up for kickspedition season!
One of our favourite Yukon trappers George Bahm threw his fur hat in the ring and is running to be MLA in the Pelly-Nisutlin riding! Looks like he had fun canvassing-by-kicksled in Ross River.
Happy Christmas and Happy Kicksledding!
Hey all the elves out there! I like to show each and every one of you this demo in person, but in case I wasn’t able to when you visited the shop, or if I talked too fast, here’s a quick instructional video showing you how to raise up your kicksled!
Thank you to the sponsors of the Yukon Hospital Foundation’s Festival of Trees at Meadow Lakes Golf Course for this dazzling and magical experience. Twas fun to take it in by kicksled!
Down to our last few Kickspark Max: one silver one blue and two red. Sold out of Kickspark in blue and green... two cranberry Sparks remain! These beauties are light and fast and fun! Who needs a seat?! Kids love them too. My technique really amped up when I introduced sparks to my personal fleet - made me a better and faster kicksledder. Come to the shop to try one out! Watch the vid to hear me ramble on and overshare as usual!
Grateful for new snow freshening up roads and trails for solstice holiday kicksledding! Kicksleds and time left to surprise your special someone with the gift of pure joy! Kicksled shop on 5th Ave between Wood and Jarvis open Wed+Thur+Fri noon-6 and Sat 10-2.
Seems I barely post on Facebook. Unless people engage, or I pay money, the social media overlords don’t show posts to very many people, so sometimes I don’t bother. But lots has happened since that lovely parade! We sold out of T4 medium (sorry... T6L can be a decent compromise for many families), the cardboard tower in my shop grows quickly requiring frequent trips to the recycling to unload and to the Seacan to replenish. I keep the Kicksled shop looking flush but the Seac...an supply is quickly dwindling. Thanks to everyone for your kicksled enthusiasm and patience while I process all the orders. If you’re outside the Yukon, I’m sorry I don’t ship kicksleds and I don’t even have a spare moment to gab with you on the phone about how rad kicksleds are or how you can start your own Revolution in Vermont or Wisconsin or Michigan. Good luck tho! I hope you do. So Yukon: I’m here just for you. The only kicksled retailer in North America that has kicksleds and a few sparks before Christmas! How special and lucky for us! Here’s some behind the scenes photos. Like a Disney movie, my tagish kicksled fleet is trapped frozen solid in ice after that rainstorm a couple weeks back. Bad me. That’s going to take time and tools to fix. But, my first ever kicksled was stored better so I got that hefty cargo sled out and put it to work. I fell in love with kicksledding and got good at it on that beast 12 winters ago. Put new runners on it last year for a new lease on life. Anyway, that’s a lot of words. My shop on 5th Ave between Wood and Jarvis is open this week W-Th-F noon-6 and Saturday 10-2. I close for 15 minutes at 3 to kicksled for school pickup. Pull up a Kicksled seat outside. We’ll be back soon. See more
