Big changes! KidCareCanada resources are moving. They will be managed and operated by a wonderful organization and we will be able to tell you more after December 9. Our entire collection of resources for new parents -- videos and more that are useful for anyone who cares for young children -- will still be freely available to all. Watch here for all the new details so that as our social media winds down, you can start to follow accounts related to the new home.... In the meantime, check us out as usual at https://kidcarecanada.org/ (see our profile link) #KidCareCanada #videosforparents #learningguides #parenting #siblings #newbaby #grandparents #resourcesforfamilies #familyinformation #kids #healthydevelopment #infantdevelopment #parenting #connection #connectwithyourchild #babybrother #babysister #babiesofinstagram #kidsofinstagram #relationships #nurturing

Synchronizing a New Baby’s Sleep Schedule https://youtu.be/jbc6TF_Dh38 A baby’s irregular sleep pattern may be a source of worry for a first-time parent. This new mother in the short video linked here found it hard to synchronize her sleep schedule with her baby's sleep schedule. ... Learning the Difference Between Day and Night is an important part of establishing a sleep schedule. Interacting with the baby in a way that clearly distinguishes night from day is helpful in helping the baby learn to sleep for longer stretches at night. Dr. Padmapriya Kandhadai And please keep watching! We have a new Language Development resource in the works and it is exciting. Our new video "Intimate Partner Violence: Why Men Harm" features Marion Little, who looks at sexualized violence and the factors that cause this. Part of our 'Anxiety, Stress and Adversity' playlist, the direct link is here. https://kidcarecanada.org//intimate-partner-violence-why-/ Many male members of our society are conscientious and take a stand against violence. However, it is also the case statistically that violence (sexualized violence in particular) is most often... committed by males. Cultural messages that allow the objectification of women are often given to boys and young men. These messages, along with the shutting down of boys’ emotions, are a systemic challenge to the prevention of sexualized violence. Early nurturing, including a compassionate understanding of the emotional experiences of boys, can encourage boys to relate honestly to each other and to girls. Boys and men can learn the self-soothing and conflict resolution skills to overcome the feelings of distress or frustration that can lead to acting out in a way that is harmful to others. People of all genders benefit by learning and practising self-empathy. Please note that if you are in BC or the Yukon, you can access toll-free, confidential, multilingual telephone service (Crisis Support) 24 hours per day, 1-800-563-0808 or email [email protected]. #KidCareCanada #compassion #nurturing #familyinformation #healthydevelopment #sexualizedviolence #raisingboys #raisinggirls #sexualizedviolence #connecwithyourchild #trauma #addiction #IntimatePartnerAbuse #abusiverelationship #relationship #abuse #ViolentPartner #whymenharm #menwhohurt #compassion #connection
