WE HAVE A DONOR! We have been waiting some time to make an announcement as we wanted to be certain that things were moving forward. At 11:30 today, Heather will be going into surgery for her transplant. We are beyond grateful for the selfless act and can't find the words to express enough gratitude to our donor and her family. Thank you. To everyone else who has been following along, thank you for your support. Please keep our family and theirs in your thoughts and prayers at this time, surgery time is expected to be 4-5 hours.

Update for everyone following along as I haven't made a post in a long time. Heather started dialysis about a month ago and is thriving. She has much more energy and is adjusting to the improved quality of life by cooking as many new recipes as she can find. The Renal Dialysis team have been working hard to find a balance of pump speed and pull rate. The transplant process has been placed on hold due to COVID-19 but we know things will move ahead in the future when society gets back to normal. Thanks to everyone for the continued support! The living donor office arranges all testing and consultations for the potential living donor. Clients are contacted regularly to make sure they are well informed during the process. The donor and recipient teams are kept separate to keep the donor's details private. It takes 13 months to go... through the evaluation process. The living donor will spend less than a week in the hospital after the donation surgery and will need to be off work for 4-8 weeks for recovery. When Calling Donor Services, you will need to leave a voicemail containing the following: First and last name including spelling, organ you wish to donate (Kidney), date of birth, provincial healthcare number, mailing address, phone number to be contacted at, and name of intended recipient (Heather Harder). The Comedy show has been sold out! We look forward to sharing laughs and seeing many familiar faces this evening, thanks to all for the love and support.

The response we've received so far has been overwhelming and we would like to say a big thanks to everyone who has taken time out of their day in the last week to check up on our family!
