It's World Health Day today and this year the WHO is all about: Building a Fairer, Healthier World. There are some major inequalities in this world, especially when it comes to health. This includes food security, clean water, income levels, governments, and access to health services. Today is meant to bring awareness to these inequalities and for the WHO to call on leaders to make the change and support the vulnerable members of their communities.

Happy August KidneyCARE family! This month, KidneyCARE has organized a fundraiser, #ActivateYourKidneys, to highlight the importance of keeping active for kidney health, and to encourage us to keep moving! Did you know that 40% of individuals with chronic kidney disease will suffer a break in their bones (a fracture) even before they go on to dialysis or get a kidney transplant? This can be prevented by physical activity to keep your muscles moving and your bones stro...ng! We challenge you to be active for 100km or 100 hours this month! Walk, run, bike, swim, dance, practice yoga, martial arts, tai chi - whatever gets you moving! Set a goal and let your friends and family (and us!) know. Donations of support can be made to KidneyCARE Network International at the link in our bio. Dialysis is a life-saving treatment for many individuals living with kidney disease. Rest assured that during the coronavirus outbreak, #dialysis treatment continues! To protect yourself and your care team during dialysis: Arrive to appointments on time. Clinics are scheduling appointments to promote as much physical distancing as possible. By showing up early or late, physical distancing is more difficult. Sanitize your hands as soon as you arrive to the clinic an...d before you leave to prevent the spread of germs. Follow any new directions and rules. For example, there may be arrows to indicate where to walk. These measures are in place to keep you, your care team, and others at the clinic safe. Do not bring anyone with you to your appointment, unless medically necessary and the clinic has agreed to it. This is to promote physical distancing. #kidneycare #kidneyhealth #esrd #hemodialysis #kidneyeducation #healtheducation #kidneyclinic #kidneydisease See more
