Lowes knows nothing about the person he donated a kidney to on Jan. 20. All he knows is that the recipient’s surgery went well. I have zero regrets, he says. "Joan Peterson was one such person affected by Logan’s generosity she went to check if she and her partner were registered organ donors. They weren’t, but they quickly made sure to register. A little over two months later, Joan passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm. But her decision to donate her organs would save five more lives including Wade’s. He had been on the waiting list for an additional year and was constantly out of breath."... The Kidney Foundation of Canada is proud to be a member of the Canadian Society of Transplantation’s (CST) Living Donor Circle of Excellence program! The Living Donor Circle of Excellence program recognizes companies that have policies in place to support the wages of a living donor employee who donates a kidney, or a part of their liver, or the donor of an employee. Financial hardships associated with living organ donation are often a major disincentive for many donors. CST's Living Donor Circle of Excellence aims to eliminate the financial costs of living organ donation by recognizing companies whose policies support living donation. That same heart, the one that couldn’t help but give, was one of several organs that would prove life-changing for five transplant recipients following Makins’ death on Sept. 12, 2020. When they approached us about donating his organs, it probably took me less than a minute to say yes, Stubbings said. <3 <3 <3 Register as an organ donor AND let tell your loved ones about your decision: https://myhealth.alberta.ca/pages/otdrhome.aspx Use your voice and urge the government to prioritize organ & tissue donation in Alberta: www.MoreTransplants.ca

"At the age of 70, the B.C. man has a brand new heart beating in his chest, and it’s thanks to a committed RCMP officer who tracked him down while he was out of cell reception." <3 <3
Today, we wear green for organ & tissue donation. For our Executive Director, Flavia, Green Shirt Day is a time for all of us to remember how one person can make a difference. It's about honouring organ and tissue donors like Logan Boulet, who saved 6 lives and inspired thousands of Canadians to become organ donors. "All of us at the Kidney Foundation, Northern Alberta & The Territories Branch, are committed to doing what we can to improve Alberta's organ and tissue donati...on and transplantation system. Please add your voices to ours by joining our efforts at www.MoreTransplants.ca. We need to strengthen our voices and especially for those who have died waiting. We have seen many changes this year due to the pandemic, but it has only strengthened my resolve to push forward and ensure the changes needed. As the Executive Director for the NABT Branch, you have my promise and commitment to all of those we serve, and indeed to all Albertans, that I will continue to advocate passionately to save lives through organ and tissue donation." #GreenShirtDay #LoganBouletEffect #OrganDonation #GiftofLife #MoreTransplants #Donation #TransplantCommunity #MoreTransplants
Today, we wear green for organ & tissue donation. For Kerstin, our Office Manager, organ donation is about improving the lives of those in our community. "Working for the Kidney Foundation it's amazing to see the positive impact organ donation has for the recipients and their families on almost a daily basis. It helps people live healthier and more productive lives and gives them a renewed life and improved health after transplant. It is time to improve organ and tissue donat...ion rates as everybody has it in them to give!" #GreenShirtDay #LoganBouletEffect #OrganDonation #GiftofLife #MoreTransplants #Donation #TransplantCommunity #MoreTransplants #TogetherStronger
Today, we wear green for organ & tissue donation. For Manuel, our Community Development and Communications Manager, Green Shirt Day is a day to remember and honour organ donors for their selfless decision to give the gift of life. "For over 13 years, I have lived life to the fullest because my mom gave me the gift of life. Without my mom, I would have been on dialysis for much longer until I received a donation from someone like Logan, who decided to donate life. ... And so today, I wear green in honour of Logan Boulet and the countless organ donors who have improved countless lives because of their selfless decision. I wear green to remind everyone that organ & tissue donation matters, and we can all help save lives. I encourage everyone to have the 'table talk' conversation with their family. Talking about death can be uncomfortable, but it is so important your family knows your decision, so your wishes are honoured. Visit www.MoreTransplants.ca to learn about our branch's work to push the government to prioritize organ & tissue donation in Alberta. Get involved, share your experience, sign the petition, and contact our provincial elected officials. They need to hear from us, so they can implement policy changes that help Alberta become a leader in transplantation. Together, we can help build a future where individuals who need a transplant receive a transplant." #GreenShirtDay #LoganBouletEffect #OrganDonation #GiftofLife #MoreTransplants #Donation #TransplantCommunity #MoreTransplants #TogetherStronger
