Kids mindfulness regina 23.04.2021

My mini yogi’s. As promised..worries burning. **kids were grouped by family. I had permission to post this** We wrote worry on one paper, peace on the other. We did a meditation to let go of worry and invite peace to replace it. We decided lighting the worries on fire would be best. Finished off with some mindful walking outside under what was left of the full moon. Kids are welcome to share feelings and experiences but are never pushed to do so. This has been such an incredible journey for me as well.

Happy fall solstice. Better late than never. That’s what I always say. Not that I’m ever late. After a day that was a 4/10, having zero motivation or inspiration and a migraine, I decided to cancel yoga. Afternoon recess I took my kids outside to play in the leaves. My daughter made this beautiful leaf bouquet....And there it was. I was also nailed in the head by a flying tree branch. Sometimes it’s ok to wallow in a bad day and sometimes the universe gives you options to get over yourself. Always grateful for the support. The kids loved the group and made their own vase for the leaves at home. Success.

Last week we did a marshmallow meditation. It can be done with any food. I got the kids to put a marshmallow in their mouth and NOT chew it....Wait until it is gone and notice the changes. It’s not about the food you use so much, as the slowing down. Focusing on one thing. Being silent. We talked about what mindfulness is. A lot of people think mindfulness means living in a constant state of happiness. I call that toxic happy. To me it’s more about living in each feeling, ...accepting it, but knowing when it’s ok to let that feeling go and having the tools necessary to do that. As well as Trying not to invite old negative feelings back that aren’t serving you anymore. Maybe what we practice today won’t be used tomorrow. But hopefully the knowledge can be stored and used whenever we are called to use it. Or maybe shared with someone who needs it. Tonight we are going to do breathwork with roses. Always look forward to seeing the kids and hearing what they have to share
