A fun activity to do with your kids during the isolation

Kids Islamic Village 03.10.2020

Difficult times always bring out the best in many people. In order to lift spirits and make a difference in our community during this challenging time, a number of businesses and charities in Central Edmonton have joined hands to offer a bundle of much needed services for our community in such a challenging time. If you are in need of any of the following services offered by our community businesses and charities, please PM Kids Village Daycare and we will be more than happy... to help: 1- Free Parent Portion Childcare: Kids Village Daycare & OSC is offering FREE parent portion childcare services for all essential workers. There will be special fee arrangements for families that do not qualify for a subsidy. 2- Hand Sanitizers and Masks: Downtown iPharmacy is donating 60 ml hand sanitizers and 2 masks for each family. 3- Food Drive: Masjid Quba - Edmonton is accepting non-perishable food donations for the following items ONLY: pasta, rice, tomato sauce, oil, salt, canned fruits or vegetables, canned tuna or fish (no meats), canned or dried beans, cereals and oatmeal. Donated items will be organized by our volunteers into humpers and will be distributed to families accordingly. 4- Grocery Shopping and Delivery: If you are a senior, immunosuppressed person, self-isolating or have any other reason that does not allow you to go shopping for your grocery and medicine, please contact us and our volunteers will help you with this AT NO COST. Just pay for your grocery AFTER delivery. 5- Bidets Supply and Installation: We partnered with a number of bidets suppliers in the area to supply and install bidets in your bathrooms to replace toilet paper. No special plumbing is needed. You can buy your bidet from Amazon and our supplier can help you with installation only. This service is done at a cost price. If you are in need of any of the above services or willing to donate food or volunteer with us, or if you are a business in central Edmonton who wants to participate, please PM Kids Village Daycare & OSC. More services will be added very soon!

Elderly Support Initiative As the COVID19 virus outbreak is a growing concern, Masjid Quba and Kids Islamic Village have taken the initiative to provide a necessary service that may assist our seniors and other vulnerable people during the current global crisis. If you are a senior or other vulnerable member who finds it difficult to buy your household groceries due to:... - physical or mental challenges - lack of supplies at nearby stores - fear of getting the covid19 virus, especially since seniors are the most vulnerable age group. Please contact us at Masjid Quba (tel: 780-426-6373) or Kids Islamic Village (tel: 780-240-6956) for help. We have a group of youth volunteers who will come to your house personally to pick up your list. They will complete your shopping and deliver it to you.The volunteer can be reimbursed for the costs of the groceries upon its delivery. It's our duty to stand by our community in times of need and this is our first initiative to help out the community during this global pandemic.

Dear Kids Islamic Village Family: In response to the COVID19 virus pandemic outbreak, our daycare is taking the following health measure that we wanted to inform you about: 1- Restrict access to common areas: - Starting Monday 16th, 2020, no visitors will be allowed at the daycare.... - Parents will not be allowed past the vestibule area. Please call Teacher Gulnaz at 587-778-7010 5 min before your arrival time to make sure that she has your child(ren) ready by the time you arrive at the daycare. - Parents are not allowed to take off their outdoor shoes at the facility. Children's outdoor shoes will be kept in the vestibule area. 2- Classes will be divided into smaller groups: Starting Monday 16th, 2020, we will divide our classes so that no more than 8 children are in care with 1 teacher. We already hired extra staff and will share their profiles with you on Monday the 16th. 3- All field trips and outdoor activities are canceled until further notice: And that is to minimize the chances of catching a cold or flu due to the fluctuation of temperatures and weather. 4- Stay home if you are sick or suffering flu symptoms: - If you, your child or any of your family members are feeling any of the flu symptoms (cough, fatigue, muscle ache, sneeze, fever...etc), please isolate yourself and your family members for 5-7 days till you make sure that you have completely recovered. - If your child at our facility shows any symptoms of flu, especially fever above 38C, you will be contacted to pick up your child immediately and your child will stay in the director's office till you arrive safely. 5- Hygiene and respiratory etiquette: - Children and adults in the facility will clean their hands on arrival at school, after using the toilet, after lunch and snack breaks and before leaving school. - There will be sufficient hygiene supplies for the children and adult-use at the facility. - Children will be taught the respiratory etiquette of covering the mouth and nose during coughing or sneezing with a tissue or a flexed elbow and disposing of used tissues in a plastic-lined waste container, followed by hand hygiene. - All utensils, cups and other daily use items will be disposable as much as we can. - Parents are asked to please not bring water bottles to the facility anymore. - All high touch surfaces such as taps, doorknobs, and countertops will be cleaned and sanitized frequently. - Children will be asked to avoid touching their face, nose, eyes or mouth or their friends face, nose, eyes or mouth. We will be adding more health measures isA as needed. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact management at 7802406956.But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful.(12:64)

Gulnaz, our center director, a former teacher in Pakistan and accredited teacher in Alberta. Tasneem, our special needs teacher, a former teacher in India and an assistant teacher for special needs in Alberta. Sadia, our Toddler room teacher, a former teacher in Bangladesh and soon to be a teacher in Alberta too.... Amina, our Quran teacher, a former teacher of Quran in Somalia and Egypt and a sheikha for Quran in Canada with 2 Ijazas. This is only a sample of our amazing team. We have another 6 teachers from 6 different backgrounds to be added to our team soon. From Egypt, Morocco, Afghanistan, Lebanon...and the list goes on. Despite the diversity of cultures in our team, we all have one thing in common: we have a teaching certificate whether from back home or from Alberta and we share the passion for educating young minds, especially if we are educating them about Islam and Quran. Oh, and one more thing in common too, we pray every Salah Jamaha together and with our daycare kids during the daycare operation hours :)
